Dear SteeleRedux,

Waleed Aly gave an interesting lecture to the Senate
entitled - "Multiculturalism, Assimilation, and the
Politics of Terrorism." It's worth reading and gives
another perspective in this discussion. If you Google
"Waleed Aly - Lecture to the Senate," - you'll be able
to click onto it. At present I'm having computer problems.
I hope you can access it.

Sigmund Foxy,

Do two things for me, please:
1) Define "problem", and
2) Show me where you were elected to speak on behalf of "others" --or anyone else?

one under god "[and THE FiRST TIME I READ IT I THOUGHT IT APPLIED TO ME TOo?"

It does.
Less than 2% of the population understand your language.

"*Every* language other than English is>>.[AT BEST?..ON average?..presumed?]..<<..spoken by less than 2%>>"

Ever heard of the Census?

"YEAH BUT GLOBALLY..HOW MANY USE ENGLISH"

Who cares?
We're discussing Australian society, not the whole world.

Even if we were the *only* people who spoke English, it would still be the dominant language *here*.

Many languages are spoken only in *one* country or by one people, but are the definitive language of that people/location.

"OR BETTER EXPLAINING WHY THEY SHOULD ADOPT ITS LIMITATION[OR REVELATION?"

Because (a) over 98% of *our* population don't speak their language, and (b) over 76% speak English *only*.
This is the society they live in.

Why should the 76% be the ones who need to adapt, rather than the 2%?
That is impractical and inefficient, as well as a damned insult.

If minorities want to "LINK back to when time was beguun" they can go back to their ancestral homelands.
Party like it's 1499.

SteeleRedux, please *quote* my "dishonesty".

I don't "deflect" these matters. I discuss them straightforwardly.

But I don't think the perfectly normal and natural resistance to foreigners, present at all times and places in all peoples throughout world history, is the "problem".

Without that resistance, none of the peoples you claim to love so much would exist!

The problem is what's causing those reactions: our displacement by aliens.

"Attacks against “war memorials, political party headquarters or corporate assets” do not instil fear in a person purely because of their religion or race."

And why should the latter be "special" cases, accorded more weight than the former?

Dear SPQR,

Go back and re-read your posts.
And, unless you are conceptually and
ethically impaired - you should be able
to see the problem.
