In a formal debate, Parliamentary or Oxford style returning serve on your opponent, who you clearly disagree with or for sake of debate pretend to.
Should not be by putting evidence in no way related to what has been said up is a blind, nothing less.
Lexi a kind hearted girl of much merit, and Pericles have done that here.
What has the Milpera Massacre more than 30 years ago got to do with today?
Well a lot! not the authors weak link to our thread, but the unchallengeable truth! those gangs now have more middle eastern gangsters as members that ever before.
Lexi sweetly remembering the Auburn/Granville, so many suburbs from her, and my, youth.
Those places, as they had been live only in Lexis mind.
Even Liverpool is subject to street shootings and murder, Sydney police, PUBLICLY! have told us they are sick of our sick western suburbs murders.
In debate, any debate, you can tell when your point has hit home, the rebuttals become disjointed and unrelated to the very real problem.
If we could take the western Sydney suburbs, and emerging non Australian culture, and dump them in any city in this country, we would se many eyes opened.

Phillip S; I did not, nor do I say or imply ALL refugees or ALL immigrants are good, like any groups in society there are good and bad members. Some of the rednecks on here continually beat the drum about how bad these evil people are. I simply tried to add some balance to the argument, showing there are also good people. You are one of those guilty of extreme bias, as demonstrated by your comment "Take away the monetary and all the other incentives they will soon find another country to bleed dry." may I add this is the thrust of all your comments on this subject. You and others continually run a hate campaign on this forum against innocent children, women and men, people you do not know or understand. unfortunately your attitudes are of those of the extreme right in our society. a form of bigoted fascism.
It has been my experience from meeting many recent arrivals that they are in general nice people, these are people of the ethic backgrounds you and others continually like to demonise. Because a person is different in language, custom and culture does not automatically make them bad. I am sure you and others here have had minimal contact with new arrivals, and with your predigests isolate yourself from such different people.
We in The Greens spend a considerable amount of time engaging with ethnic groups and individuals, and loan behold their aspirations are very similar to ours, after nothing more than a better life for there children and themselves. And how often have many of these people expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Australia for giving them this better chance in life, something most thought would never be possible, countless.

I used to live in Cabramatta & Guildford in the early 70's & I remember as 21 year old having my fair share of stubbies & walking home at midnight, no problems whatsoever. Police used to have a giggle & the cops made their sarcastic remarks but that's as tough as it used to get.
It was only a few years later when ALL the people I knew in Cabramatta had moved out because of the failure of the new immigrants' to integrate unlike their predecessors from Europe.

Paul 1405,
Maybe I'm mistaken but is it not the case that your spouse or significant other in non White/ non native born? You're biased in favour of migrants and biased against White Australians. You do understand that nobody beside Greens uses the term "Redneck" in this country? I know quite a few Greens members including relatives of mine and they always use "Redneck" instead of White, Australian, Aussie etc.
The Greens are a racially biased and elitist political tendency, many of them are outright bigots, nobody outside your own circle sees you as good people and a growing majority of people really hate you, that's the truth of the matter.

Dear Belly,

Violence is unfortunately part of our culture
whether you want to admit to it or not. All
you have to do is turn on and listen to the news.
How many people are attacked in pub brawls?
How many die or are in comas after these attacks.
How many are blinded or murdered?

As Four Corners
revealed the latest figures show that each year as
many as 70,000 people are involved in alcohol-related
assaults and it's estimated that alcohol-related
violence costs the community $187 million each year.
As well as the damage that is done to the victims.
There's a growing body of evidence that shows a link
between binge drinking and brain damage.
We seem to have a culture of bullying as well, and its
growing.

You can't just ignore something like that and continue
to blame only "ethnics" on violence. Violence is part and parcel
of our society, unfortunately. We need to look at why
violence is happening and how to fix it. Lets also not forget
the criminal element in all of this, including Bikie Gangs.
