@ CSteele
<<My grave fear for the future though is the exponential growth of fundamentalist Christianity in China>> ROFLMAO (and the MAO part has nothing to do with Mao Zedong) Now I'm convinced, you have no idea of what you're talking about. <<My grave fear for the future though is the exponential growth of FUNDAMENTALIST Christianity in China>> Total and utter nonsense! And you are the one who has been preaching the need to distinguish between fundamentalist Muslims and the rest--you haven't got a clue about what fundamentalism is! Rechtub give diamondpete and csteele a break.
They have difficulty's with sight. Both failed to see the nature of the RIOT, and neither saw the signs held there or world wide by these poor victims of western oppression. The film, well one in ten thousand saw it, demonstrators I mean. And the transferring its sound track from English to Arabic was done only to help others hear it,so they too could be offended. Heard of wolf in sheep,s clothing? On the net the early works of Joseph Goebbels has been built on. Refined. And like an AK47 used to try to make us bend. Not me mate! I would have enjoyed a more nuanced discussion of the issue with stevenlmeyer if he hadn't been intent on coming in here to fan some pretty unsavoury flames. Much of our aid to Indonesia is being directed toward bringing Islamic schools into the national curriculum, in other words we are effectively attempting to counter the influence of Saudi millions. Yet the Coalition would have us slash these funds.>> LOL Feel free to be as nuanced as you like. For the record: I think trying to combat Wahhabism by funding Indonesian schools is worth trying but I would like to see some follow-up studies of its effectiveness. Come to think of it, I would love to see some robust studies on the effectiveness of all educational initiatives, domestic as well as overseas. When it comes to education I feel the same way John Wanamaker felt about his advertising spend. He knew half of it was wasted but he didn't know which half. Dear All,
Here we have something of a wake up call. Please peruse the CNN photo of the riot in the streets of Athens, Greece. What are the odds that those in the forefront of the affray come largely from the thousands of “asylum seekers” who have *fled* to Greece: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/09/21/world/anti-islam-film-protests/index.html And of more relevance to OZ, since we either officially or unofficially source many of our “asylum seekers “ from such venues, here’s a similar account from Pakistan: <<Afghan refugees have staged protest demonstration the anti-Islam film and anti-Muslim policies of US at two separate venues here on Wednesday…The Afghan refugees of the Gandaf camp assembled at market of Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate. They were holding placards inscribed with the anti-US slogans while demanding that the Muslim World to awaken from the deep sleep and forge unity in their ranks to confront the anti-Islam policies of US and its allies>> http://www.thefrontierpost.com/article/182541/ More evidence that it is NOT our values that attract many “asylum seekers Posted by SPQR, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 8:55:28 AM

You seem to forget one very, very important thing, THIS IS AUSTRALIA!
We should not have to distinguish between any of these, not in our country, as we are a peace loving nation, and it is not our fault that the Islamic religion fosters all three categories you mentioned.
The hardest part for us, is to distinguish the difference between these groups, as they all look the same, and they all follow the same religion, but then again, why should we have to, as this is our country after all and (they) should leave their baggage behind when invited here.
This is why I will stick to my guns and say the religion should be banned here, as the only way to get rid of the extreemists is to remove (from our country) what it is they follow, the religion.
After all, it is not our fault that the religion fosters all of the above.
We tried, it has failed.
