So, ABC/SBS is a communist conspiracy because on Q&A and Talking Heads, they might regard that a few left-leaning lobbyists might be regarded as stakeholders on an issue as much as conservative, liberal, business etc lobbies, and allowed to talk on the show?

I think that's our problem- the fact that they give an ear to these people at all (being that they seem to be an invested opposition group in every issue something we shouldn't be dismissing).

I'm curious though- I always thought Labor were supposed to be the pinko party; yet ABC has regularly bashed the Labor party- including getting Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to ambush her on one talk-show. So wouldn't that make them 'right wing'?
Or for that matter, when they aired Dick Smith's "Population Puzzle" and invited Ross Eliot (who I am positive isn't "left wing") to comment on it?

Of course, again I think it's just the fact that none of the commercials have ANY political discussion shows at all, and ABC/SBS do that confuses the issue.
But I do remember when Rove made fun of John Howard on Rove Live- I think Channel 10 might be a socialist channel too- and of course when they let that Big Brother Housemate make a refugee protest.

No Bazz, reception is basically good, & my aerial is as high as any, & that is not very high. We can have excellent reception for days, even weeks, then a couple of bad, with no weather conditions to cause it. In face SBS is often better on wetish, but not stormy days days.

I have had no problems with the commercials

WmTrevor I think you may be right. It does come across to me, an amateur, that it is a loss of transmission power that causes the problem.

Does SBS come from the same transmission outfit? It is often both of them off air together, yet a little community broadcaster has no trouble getting out.

I knew I had some reason not to like banks.

*Hasbeen, about the only solution I can suggest at this distance is to
get a new TV mast at least twice as long*

I tried all that years ago, as I REALLY live in the sticks. Much
better to just get a satelite dish and have perfect digital reception
of all stations, anywhere in Australia.

Even the grey nomads now carry dishes with them on their travels.
Quite reasonably priced too.

ABC/SBS is a communist conspiracy
King Hazza,
Looks as though you're one under their spell already otherwise you wouldn't make such a comment. They prey on the intelligent who have been made stupid in our Unis. They really are on a winner there.

Hasbeen,
Fading is a common problem with UHF signals. It is just that
you need to have a margin over the minimum signal and it sounds like
you do not. ABC and SBS may be on the same tower and the commercials
in a slightly different area and that can make the difference on marginal signals.
If your TV has the signal strength indicator you can see the fade taking place.
You can use that to turn the antenna and see if you can improve the signal.
Don't be surprised if the best direction is not pointing at the tower.
Is it the Mt Coota services you are watching ?

Yes Bazz, it's Mt Cootha we get our signal from.

It was all done by the best bloke in the district. I don't go on the roof any more, that's where I had my last heart attack, & I'm banned.

The ABC was getting something, but not a picture tonight, switching back & forth to no signal. It is coming in loud & clear since about midnight.

SBS simply showed no signal until about midnight, & now has a semi broken signal.

There is no weather, or wind within 512Km of the area, so I doubt that's a cause.

Thanks for the help, I guess I had better call that bloke in again, & get it sorted.
