I live on the outskirts of Brisbane. We have in Brisbane a little tuppenny ha'penny community access TV station, Briz 31, & I am finding many of it's programs very good. Although a very small time outfit, it comes in loud & clear out here in the sticks.

This is just as well, because despite one billion a year of tax payer dollars, this is more than our ABC can manage. The same goes for SBS. I don't know how much of the SBS budget still comes from the tax payer, but it has always catered to the inner city, with scant interest in anyone else.

As we all know, the ABC is becoming irrelevant, the increase in air time, with 4 channels has stretched it beyond capacity. It seems it now does mostly propaganda, but tonight there was a Time Team show I was interested in, & there was something on Oz motoring history that was recommended by a friend.

Pity about that, despite a perfectly clear night, our ABC was not getting out enough signal to reach us hicks. Perhaps they were caught short of cash for the power bill, if so, I wonder what they spend that billion on, it sure can't be programs.

I wonder if some time soon they will cut some of the propaganda budget, after all the inner city yuppie lefty crowd are all ready converted, & put some money into transmission capacity, so the rest of us can listen in some time

Maybe the ABC signal is purposely making a detour around your house, Hasbeen. : )

I live in south west WA and we have great reception of both ABC and SBS.

I too live several hours south of Perth, and get really good reception of both SBS and ABC Hasbeen, and have done for many years.

I think you need to have a TV antennae specialist guy come around and give you a new aerial or whatever?

Did that years ago. The reception has been getting worse, but only on them. Had it all checked, & fitted a booster system, as the documentaries, now on SBS, [used to be ABC] are most of the TV I want to watch.

Thank heaven Myth busters, & Top Gear have gone to the commercials, so I have something good to sleap through.

Looks like you lot in the west have got all the money spent over there. Grr.

I disagree totally.
Yes I have concerns.
I truly think the Greens have a foothold.
That comes from the middle to high income base of the tree huggers party.
But no one can match the ABC Radio or TV.
This is true, Radio/TV coverage is not good in some areas.
Making ten dollars pay for 100 dollars worth sees that happen.
In some areas employees, use on air time to put THEIR views as news/comment, not good.
But over all, as we all know, nothing ever will please every one.

We live South East Western Australia, long way from Perth. ABC and SBS reception is good.

Rarely watch the commercial stations due to the rubbish presented as news and entertainment.

The ABC could be better but it is far better than what is served up on the commercial stations.
