Hasbeen, about the only solution I can suggest at this distance is to
get a new TV mast at least twice as long, check what sort of co-ax you have, and if it is a cheaper type, buy a length of better quality coax and try your existing antenna on it. If that does not do the trick, then buy an antenna with higher gain. You may find the coax type printed on the cable. You did not answer my question about the neighbours' antennas and did the signal improve when you installed the amplifier ? Does the amplifier have its own power supply ? Or does your TV set supply the 5Volts ? See the TV menu. Posted by Bazz, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 12:36:07 PM

I liken the ABC to Telstra, excellent application but very poor mentality.
Some camera crew even hand out hash resin/oil which proves too much for some location villagers. http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/compose-message-general.asp?discussion=4812 Posted by individual, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 2:50:57 PM

We all get it wrong, every one of us.
The hard bit is admitting it. Bazz will know, we share a hobby, it is a science radio and TV communication/reception. One neighbor gets no ABC or any TV, young, stubborn, not bright, he refuses to listen. His Ariel is the wrong one, pointing in the wrong direction, and the wrong way up! He thinks it is weak signals! The next one too has the wrong aerial. Wrong polarization[way up] and pointing in to the ground. A third? informs me his Ariel box?[booster has a wire of. All want to get an expert to fix them, do not want my help. Free as offered and fixed in minutes for one. My reception all channels is top rate my hobby ham radio. One with the wire? watch my TV some times Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 3:56:39 PM

You should direct your complaint to the correct place Hasbeen.
The ABC hasn't and doesn't operate its own transmitters. The national transmission authority was responsible for the broadcast signals of government broadcasters. It was privatised by the Howard government in 1997 and had become Broadcast Australia by 1999. Broadcast Australia is owned by McQuarrie Bank and is contracted by the Australian government. Surely their argument should really be to close it down for the rest of us.
