seams are mined. While it will happen overseas before it happens here
China's coal demand will increase quite steeply as they are no longer
able to supply their own demand.
If we agree to supply all they want what are we going to do for power
generation when we exhaust our own cheap coal ?
As the Chinese Premier said, we will burn all our coal and then we
will burn all yours !
That was no idle boast.
Why is there no discussion of this absolutely front and centre problem ?
The greens just rant on about using renewables. Just do it, they say
but they never say how. I believe they have no concept of scale.
It will take at least 40 years to restructure the energy system so
what do we do in the meantime ?
A simple example, if electric cars become universal (a 20 yr job)
the power system will need to about double in a business as usual regime.
How do they propose to close all coal fired stations and generate
twice as much energy ?
Before anyone decides I have fallen out of my tree go and read this
and then come back and tell me all will be loverly if only we do as they say.
