SM, Globally coal will start rising in price as the more difficult
seams are mined. While it will happen overseas before it happens here
China's coal demand will increase quite steeply as they are no longer
able to supply their own demand.
If we agree to supply all they want what are we going to do for power
generation when we exhaust our own cheap coal ?

As the Chinese Premier said, we will burn all our coal and then we
will burn all yours !

That was no idle boast.
Why is there no discussion of this absolutely front and centre problem ?
The greens just rant on about using renewables. Just do it, they say
but they never say how. I believe they have no concept of scale.
It will take at least 40 years to restructure the energy system so
what do we do in the meantime ?
A simple example, if electric cars become universal (a 20 yr job)
the power system will need to about double in a business as usual regime.
How do they propose to close all coal fired stations and generate
twice as much energy ?

Before anyone decides I have fallen out of my tree go and read this
and then come back and tell me all will be loverly if only we do as they say.

Maybe due to the folly of how we have used and abused fossil fuels, there may be a price to pay. Those in the developing World may not be all that happy with us in the west, who gets what of what remains. A quick quiz, How many planet Earths do we need to find so everyone in the World can have the same material living standard presently enjoyed by the average American? 0 or 7.

It untruth should be your mob who sell it not any other.
It is the power of the future, even greens one day will understand this.
And no, do not tell me of the waste coal waste is far more dangerous.
Can not ask for a better reason to thank SM, your post is evidence you charge me, with your crimes.

In just FOUR DAYS, the volcanic eruption in Iceland, since its' first spewing of volcanic ash, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT all of us have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet -

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in just FOUR DAYS by that volcano in Iceland, has totally erased every single effort all have made to reduce carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud out at any one time - EVERY DAY.

Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in its entire time on earth. Mt Pinatubo was active for over one year.

Of course the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well recognised 800 year global heating and cooling cycles, which keep happening, despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change. I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud, but the fact of the matter is that the bush fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years...and it happens every year.

Just remember that our government is trying to impose a whopping carbon tax on you on the basis of the bogus “human-caused” climate change scenario. Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention “Global Warming” any more, but just “Climate Change” - you know why? It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century and these global warming bull artists got caught with their pants down.

Just keep in mind that you might yet have an Emissions Trading Scheme - that whopping new tax - imposed on you, that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer. It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting.

Don't be silly Philo, Julia will turn the tides, & still the volcanoes, with just a wave of her hand, but only if we will give her enough money of course.

It IS MY FAULT. no one else its me.
In one hundred posts I say enough,I will not respond.
But every time like a mother in law I take the bait.
I respond like a hungry cat to a fish being offered.
I except most known conservatives rebuttal of my views but Shadow minister has yet again, today, told me of my one eyed support for LABOR.
Read my comments in just this thread the one under it, and above.
Is such mud slinging of any worth, am I free to say those things, well if I thought for a second it was true maybe.
Such unfounded rubbish however is asking this question is its author able to do better?
