Bazz I too share your wishes but in vain.
Labors rank and file voted against any sell off at state conference a few years ago.
I started a thread on arriving home, about the betrayal.
From that time my party,in the hands of grubs, recently and on going sold us all out.
Nevile Wran could have gotten 25 billion dollars for it.
I put a couple of words in my last post that changed what I wanted to say, Labor would betray me,Barry has no real alternative, he just has to sell, the lot.
Now prices.
My bill in 2002 was $54 a quarter, same amount of use except.
I run battery back up solar for lighting, radios, including broadcast, and any thing needed in a black out.
each bill in the last 3 has charged me more for less.
Last time I cut use by more than the 9% each of the previous two , got 16% cut, bill went up this time past $450.
I put six grand aside to put solar on, but current return is, I believe, less than I am charged per unite, however some get three times that?
I get no joy in knowing just what I am doing, but reality drives me, throw me out of the party but rewarding this mob is some thing I will not do.
And Barry [who will be well liked for about a year] has driven me to protest by voting green, yep no option.

Considering that the details of the power sell off contracts have not been made public, there is likely to be a huge can of worms in the power generation and distribution organisation.

To expect a detailed policy given the NSW obfuscation of details is like asking someone to commit to buy a house from a glossy pamphlet only.

My personal opinion is that government has no place in managing an industrial business like power generation. This is the prime reason why after 16 years of Labor there is such a mess.

In reply to Shadow Minister's post, the Government more than ever needs to retain the ownership of public assets such as energy generation to stop the unbridled greed of capitalism.
Let's keep public assets in public ownership irrespective of who's in government.

Taurus,

I know you are stating your opinion, but Why?

The sale of generation in Victoria took stations that were losing money, sold them for billions to private enterprise who increased their efficiency and output by more than 10% and sold power back onto the grid for less than the state owned enterprises could.

It was a win win for both the state government and the consumers.

Totally disagree Shadow Minister. We should not be selling off public assets to pay for debt. These are profit making public assets that keep our taxes low.Stop all sell offs now.

Please sit down Shadow Minister.
I actually agree in this case.
And even with the unknown state of play re NSW power.
I bet it is a mess.
And the sale is in part over it can not work half and half.
The intent, selling, even for nifty Nev was to have funds for other things, but it over looked power is some thing we can not live without.
And some must now, pensioners are not using heating.
From within the public out door work force it is not known out side but it is impossible to do your job.
Al most like deliberate sabotage from above , silly stuff RTA contractors must not use existing steel posts to hang road signs, but use and charge the RTA for new ones.
The idea of public utility's getting the work but contracting out managers works but will it happen.
Face this reality nothing can save Labor, and the last conservative leader in NSW gave better workers comp to injured than any ALP one that followed him.
