I vacillate between two reasons.
-That OLO is irrefutable proof that evolution exists and that not all movement are always vertical.
- In the case of a few...Like the Blues Bros said in their seminal philosophic movie ...."its a dirty job and someone has to do it." (maximus sic). ;-)

Davidf “I am disturbed by the mass attack on Col Rouge. I disagree with him philosophically and politically, but that is nothing against him. Olo is a place for people who disagree to express their disagreements.”

David thankyou for your comments.

You will note we disagreed on the 100 poor people thread but in our exchanges neither of us denigrated the other or as the expression goes “played the man instead of the ball”.

I have a single rule

I give back what is thrown at me and whilst you and I may disagree, we will remain civil, unlike the claim made by Q&A:

“He can dish it, but beware those that dish it back - that's Col's hallmark.”

I only “dish it out” in response to those who dish it up first.

Everyone else can read the rest of the Q&A thread and easily surmise the instigator of ad hominines attacks.

Similarly CJ Moron tries and consistently fails to hit what is, after all, a broad back and target.

Such as

“You've told us about your amazingly high IQ, and we've been treated yet again to the stupendous breadth of your vocabulary - but we haven't yet heard about your sex life on this thread.

Actually I never suggested I had “an amazingly high IQ”

I said “ I see myself as ordinarily human, of above average intelligence perhaps (if my IQ score and range of vocabulary are guides)

concluding with the caveat “but with the belief that we are all entitled to aspire to the limits of our own potential.”

“Maybe someone else can “dumb it down”, so the moron can understand

Regarding “Go on Col, you know you want to regale us with your latest amorous achievements.”

Not really but it is a matter of fact I will be getting married on 1st November, to a lady of exquisite beauty, a highly developed intellect, energetic spirit, a rare quality of “Spanish” Pride (being half Spanish), an industrious work ethic and since she chose me, obviously

classical taste and discernment

I go on OLO to have my prejudices confirmed and to share them with other. No doubt the self righteous ones will claim they don't have prejudices although in denying it they are keeping with their nature. I actually think Col is spot on about 90% of the time although I doubt whether he would appreciate my endorsement. Col seems less predictable than the likes of CJ and Q@A who are actually just as committed to their dogmas and doctrines as they accuse me of. There are a few emotional sooks that give me a laugh. It certainly makes me appreciate my wife all the more. I appreciate Graham Y is one of the few willing to broadcast articles that show how idiotic man made gw is. I appreciate the diversity of articles even know many of them r cr.p Foxy makes me laugh especially when she is wrong on some issues but remains so so polite. She would make a good politician.

Dear Fractelle,

Thank you for including me in your list of people
whose posts you read. I second Pelly's comments
about you - many's the time that you sum up what
I'm feeling but were unable to express. And don't
you dare stop posting - we value you far too greatly.
Including your wonderful sense of humour.

Dear runner,

I'm glad that I make you laugh - and Thank You for your
kind words. But I'd make a lousy politician. I'm not
tough enough. I often get things wrong -and I'm far too
gullible.

Dear David f,

I again agree with Pelly - you're a gift to us on OLO.
I really look forward to reading your posts - and have
learned so much from you. You're one of my favourite
posters.

CJ – swear to god (‘scuse me there Runner/knuckles Mikk) you are going to look like a complete twat if you reply. Just let someone else do it.

Exam:”Vacillate”. Cool word, can I have it?

Hasbeen your Proff mate is just a negative old sod.

Fractelle the edit thing – it is horrible when you spot a spelling mistake, drives me nuts.

Belly what have you done, there is no real topic and look what has happened. Everyone has gone all loose and mostly insulting… actually that’s normal… sorry people false alarm.

Yes thanks Fractele I enjoy your posts too, and every one on your list.
C J Morgan you highlight a fact, after living within a football crowd of people[my huge family] I love solitude.
Need it some times, yes it changes you in my case seems work related social life is about it.
But I do not think that is a reason I come here, I may be wrong.
I am a ham radio operator, active within my club, stopped most volunteer work some time ago.
And football racing, cricket get my time too.
I think in a way we all are better for talking issues out here, just imagine trying to tell friends your thoughts on current affairs or politics, unless they shared our interests we would get no place.
Runner, for give me, I honestly have no intention of insulting or hurting you.
But I see very little in your posts that convinces me you are the type of Christian I thought I was before I grew up, evolved, understood the Truth, man made his Gods they did not make him.
