My shock at finding myself agreeing with BD has just aged me 20 years.

It's entirely possible that I am now too old to be bothering with such trivialities, although a younger person could come in handy when I misplace my teeth.

describing women 'cougars' could

Perhaps age doesn't come into the equation after all,
it's all a question of how you look and feel,
and your personal
perception of things...

And, as Yabby said, a good cheque book, also helps...

I've just fined reading -'The Book of the Courtesans' by Susan Griffin -here's an excerpt:

"As the story is told, the young man could not fathom why everyone raved about Ninon de Lenclos(a famous courtesan). Her fabled powers of seduction would have no effect on him he boasted to a friend.

'What appeal can a woman of her age possibly have?' he asked.
So it was that his friend, who had been a lover of Ninon, proposed a wager,betting his friend he could not resist her charms. Ninon who was delighted to accept the challenge, agreed to a meeting...

What was it she did? We can only surmise what took place between them...(but) in the end the young man lost his bet...(he) began to pursue her with an unmistakeable ardor.

She put him off for a while and when finally she agreed to be his lover she said he would have to wait for one month and a day. He agreed eagerly, counting off the hours until their appointed time. When the day arrived, she was good for her word. Happy in her arms at last he asked her why she had made him wait for exactly a month and a day.

Can you imagine, even in your wildest dreams, that passage being written to describe an older man with a young girl? Most references to older men in this context go along the lines of sad old bastard, balding with pot belly, red sports car compensating for something, 'preying' on young girls for dirty sex.
