I believe in compulsory National Service for both men and women ... such training also gives you skills to survive.

During WW11 Australian men were given six weeks basic training and sent to fight a well trained Japanese Army.

People either though not knowing any better or simply to suit their argument will not make any distinction between Military Service & National (non military) Service. Non Military National Service (NMNS) should be served by anyone before they are 21.
Military Service should be for those who so desire & are actually mentally & physically qualified.
A NMNS would encourage thinking about & developing a mentality to lead into adulthood with far better results than mere tertiary education.
The out come would be a society much improved from the one we live in presently.

For those on the hard right national service is a very nice "Thought Bubble" just like Dutton's un-costed, un-realistic, nuclear power generation nonsense. Just to give you some idea of the enormity of universal national service. There are about 3.5 million Australians aged 16 to 19, on that basis alone 850,000 per year would need to be processed through a compulsory NS system. Forget the logistics of it all, the cost alone would run into many billions, and the cost benefit would be ridiculously negative. Some Old Farts would feel a whole lot safer watching a parade of uniforms marching up Main Street on a Saturday morning, but that's all it would be, a stupid idea!

You are right. It's going to take something drastic to happen before a few posters here get the message.

But, we are only handful and we don't really know what the majority of Australians think until they vote. We might be pleasantly surprised next year.

Given the viciousness of the Left, the average Australian is probably best served by just getting on with life, and saving their thoughts and wishes for the privacy of the ballot box.
