Junk citations or references are those that are wrong, irrelevant, misleading, corrupt, uninformative, useless, or purely rhetorical; pervasive groupthink references that confirm left-wing biases are rarely double-checked.
References should be checked to see if their writer has explained how he came to his conclusions. References to third parties must come with information about what research they did to back what they say. Posted by ttbn, Sunday, 7 April 2024 8:40:02 AM

Dear Paul,
«The "quick as you can" report by a couple of biased ex IDF people is a joke» So you rather they did it in slow-motion? Those responsible were found. They honestly believed that there were Hamas fighters in the front car, because it was similar to the cars used by Hamas. Then when the people from the front car fled to the other two cars, they shot them too. The "WCK" stickers were not visible from above because it was night and the stickers were not thermal. Nevertheless, the officers in charge, a major and a reserves brigadier (a bloody West-Bank settler in his civil life), acted recklessly and against their orders when they failed to seek higher authorisation to shoot the vehicles despite them posing no immediate threat, and for that they were dismissed. The dismissed officers in the front command post were not told about the presence of that type of vehicle in the convoy - but their superiors were informed about it, and had they been asked then they would not have authorised that attack. Their superiors, up to the rank of general, were also reprimanded for not enforcing the orders strongly enough in their units. It did not take long to uncover exactly what happened and to take the appropriate disciplinary action. The investigation was swift, there could be further international investigations, but I am convinced that they won't find anything other than was was already discovered. Hi Yuyutsu,
Its no surprise that these "findings" are exactly the minimum outcome the US regime should find acceptable, how fortuitous for the Zionists. The whole thing stinks to high heaven as a whitewash and cover up. Anyone, any organisation, investigating itself will always lack credibility. BTW, who were the independent non-bias members of the "investigating" bods? Was anyone from the charity or the UN, or a neutral person allowed to observe the proceeding? NO! Hi Paul,
Australia has strongly demanded"from Israel that with the IDF's military's "deadly failure" in protecting aid workers Israel must take "appropriate action" against the individuals involved in this incident. Australia is asking for clear, practical action to ensure this tregedy is never repeated and that it must not be covered over. But of course it will be. Israel has so far ignored all international laws and rules. And undoubtedly will go on committing war crimes until the US stops founding and supporting its actions. I've said previously the Israeli hostages are simply being used as pawns by the Israeli government and that the Israeli government cares little about its own people. It places young people in prison for refusing to be part of mandated military service, with some in prison for time periods of around 120 days and higher.
It is also a difficult issue when your country has conscription, and the principle of mandated military service is put into the minds of people that such activity should be common practice. You also have people who rebel against conscription being disowned and shamed. However, I have respect for people doing other things, like this chef in Ukraine who is feeding refugees for free. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6f6Yi1mhXI No it's not seen as admirable as being in the military to many, but for me, serving food and supporting others is something I rate highly. That is why I take the view there must be full responsibility taken when those providing aid lose their lives in conflicts like in Gaza and an alternative not found (in terms of direction). Again, it's not about one individual case in terms of an Australian here. Others have lost their lives in terms of daily assistance in Gaza providing food, medical treatment and aid. Ultimately the reasons for the Israeli Government being in Gaza go way beyond what is justified (based on what originally occurred) and as a result both the Government and military must be held to account - otherwise where does responsibility lie? It must also be noted, with mandated military service I agree you can't put all the blame on the IDF. After all you will end up with people who have no real idea of what they are doing and there will be loss of life that could have been avoided. Posted by NathanJ, Sunday, 7 April 2024 11:30:40 PM

Some unknown Irishmen says something she agrees with in a foreign newspaper, so it must be right.
It's all too easy to look up stuff on Google that might be right or it might be wrong because it can't be authenticated.
If Foxy was a librarian, as she so often tells us, she would know about 'junk citations'. Perhaps she wasn't and she doesn't. It's easy to tell lies and fantasise online.
