Dear Nathan,
There is no way to understand and explain Israel's poor performance in this war, both militarily and humanitarily, other than that Israel's prime minister is a criminal on the run who would do anything and sacrifice anyone, including the Israeli hostages, in order to prolong the war as much as possible. He knows very well that the end of the war will also spell his own personal end. Any decent leader would instead have committed 100 Harakiris in his place, but Netanyahu on his way to jail leaves behind a river of other people's blood. Netanyahu's biggest nightmare is to see the Israeli hostages released, because then the majority of Israelis will no longer have an appetite for war. Instead, he argues that the only way to release the hostages is to hit Gaza harder and many Israelis fall for this, because all that most Israelis care for is the release of their loved ones who undergo the worst of hells in Gaza. However, Netanyahu lingers and buys time by keeping the war flame low, failing to keep his promise to hit harder (and finish the war by killing the remaining Hamas terrorists before Ramadan starts), and meanwhile both the Gazans and the hostages are dying of hunger, thirst and treatable diseases, not even mentioning the many IDF casualties. You should not blame the IDF because it only obeys orders, often while grinding its teeth. In contrast to Netanyahu and his evil government, all IDF generals already declared on their own volition that they will resign once the war ends due to their failure to foresee and be prepared to prevent the horrors of October 7th. You are not the only one who feels gutted - most Israelis also do. Posted by Yuyutsu, Friday, 5 April 2024 1:52:30 PM

One more possibility, now circulating in Israel, is that information as if the convoy consisted of Hamas terrorists posing as WCK aid workers, was provided by double agents, Gazans whom Israel secretly recruited (and there are many of these) and believed to be working for Israel, but whose true loyalty remained with Hamas.
Will we ever know the truth? Posted by Yuyutsu, Friday, 5 April 2024 2:04:52 PM

Dear Nathan,
The following link may be of interest. It is written by an Israeli who lives in Tel Aviv. He asks the question - "Should I support Israel or Palestine? " His name is Noam Cohen. He wrote his article on "Quora." If you go into the link I give and click onto - "Should I support Israel or Palestine?" You'll be able to read his article. In my opinion it's worth a read. http://quora.com/profile/Noam-Cohen-6 Posted by Foxy, Friday, 5 April 2024 2:08:01 PM

If it were not for Netanyahu and the IDF, all Israelis would be "gutted", literally, and much worse

ttbn,
You seem to get upset all the time on this forum, throwing abuse at others, as you do. In this case you dismiss the murder of the aid works as a "minor incident" something "unfortunate", well I can only guess your demise under tragic circumstances would be to your "loved ones" assuming you have any, an unfortunate minor incident. Can anyone be as cold heart'd as this bloke. Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 5 April 2024 5:12:21 PM

<<Why did the aircraft shoot the convoy?>>
The real question to ask is what were the causational factors that lead to the Israeli government and military getting involved in Gaza since last year?
These are obvious and I don't need to state these again here.
The Israeli government and military though have taken action that goes well beyond (re justifications) in terms of what originally occurred re Hamas activity and the number of hostages still kept under Hamas control.
So, with that in mind, the Israeli Government and military must take full responsibility in terms of what continues to occur here (in all areas) and it must be noted a lot of hostages are still kept in a hostage environment.
What the Israeli Government has done so far alongside the military there is not working either in terms of freeing hostages.
There is a need for a complete rethink by Israel and with that we may see a reduction in the loss of lives, including those providing aid and assistance in Gaza, plus the return of hostages at the same time.
So it is not about one investigation and waiting for outcomes over this one incident. The Israeli government needs to revise its whole approach from top to bottom.
As a person who is for the sanctity of life, I look at these situations and I am left feeling gutted.
