Landowners should be free to pay bounties or sell licences for hunters, mobile butchers, zoo trappers and tourist safaris on their properties.

All sorts of wild animals are, over-supplied, native and introduced. When someone wants to do something about it, the usual idiots cut crook, and that's the end of that.

The Marion council in Adelaide has summoned up the courage to try putting a curfew on cats. The inevitable ranting and raving from the usual ranters and ravers started immediately, and the idea will probably fall over. Everything that is wrong in Australia is down to governments kowtowing to minorities.

Camels, kangaroos etc? Start using so-called conservation parks as productive land and cattle grazing and eat them out of existence and reduce fuel hazards.

Yup! And why not!?

We should have a guaranteed in law, right to bear arms and use them and whomsoever we choose to invite/allow to exterminate vermin on OUR land! Or to protect our persons, IN OUR OWN HOMES!

Albeit, exclusively by expert marksmen able to take headshots at will and understand the particular ballistics of the weapon they use.

Self-protection should be limited to .22 pistols and subsonic ammo only. And must include a tactical torch to absolutely identify any potential target.

Those who don't want to become target practice? Can stay away/go where and when they're invited!

Uninvited intruders should have no more rights than vermin! Certainly not superior rights in law to the homeowners they assault and cripple in an apprehended break and enter.

One simply cannot reason with an ice maddened addict and not all of us can afford the taxpayer-funded security of our alleged lawmakers!

My preference for vermin extermination is a 22-250, given the trajectory maxes out at around 600 metres, where the projectile still has enough inherent sonic velocity to disintegrate with impact instead of ricochet like a .22!

A.22 can still kill a mile (1.6 km) away as a ricochet! Meaning with the 22.250, there is less chance of unintended consequences!

Alan B,

Whilst I share your general sentiments,

"One simply cannot reason with an ice maddened addict and not all of us can afford the taxpayer-funded security of our alleged lawmakers!"

and that's true, what is also true you can't stop one with sub-sonic .22s, my preference would be .38 Special at the least.

Ise Mise, Profesional hitmen prefer a.22 and a headshot, someone with a point 22 projectile between the peepers is not going anywhere or do anything to anyone! The report sounds like a cap gun.

I believe there'd be far fewer break-ins aimed robberies if the crims in question knew they could end it right there as corpses. Folk who step outside the law, ought not be protected by it!

However, if I just wanted knockdown power, I'd want a five-shot 50 cal pistol! That mother can punch holes in six-inch thick concrete blocks! And a headshot would result in the targets losing their mind!

Alan,

I've got a big head, only big feral cats fit. They are bit warm this time of the year, though.
