Do you really even know what you're talking about? If you're going to "go there" you'd better be able to back up your statements.
I'm not saying you're wrong to go down that path but others are going to demand that you prove that you're right and unfortunately for you that's going to be almost impossible.
What the Germans had to put up with from Jews was not a racial issue until Hitler framed it as such in his political platform, there were Germans and Jews fighting each other on either side of the ideological divide in the lead up to WW2.

What I am saying is that in all wars, people get treated terribly. Again and again it happens. Later on, we usually have the stories told by the winning side. These will always always be biased. Certainly what the germans did was terrible. However, there are endless programs on the events of WW2, which are painted in a simple black and white nature. What one side did was absolutely disgraceful and the other side was totally innocent. I have a friend who's parent was in a concentration camp. They were not Jewish but as you know there were many other groups in these camps besides the Jews, often ignored in many comments. My friends sisters were killed by the Germans. Her parent has no respect for what the Germans did during the war, however she also has the same amount of distain for how the Jews treated many others around them. She saw many others die around her because the Jews would not help them. Because of how she saw the Jews acting during these times, she will never trust a Jewish person since. Basically I am saying what the Germans did was terrible, but what many other groups did was also terrible.
Now today, because of political correctness, people of Jewish descent appear to be treated unequally. If there is any legitimate criticism of the Israeli state or Jews, they will often scream discrimination in an attempt to squash genuine discussion.

It's no wonder that the Jewish community is so sensitive to criticism when people like Ozzie feel they can say what he has just said. I've tossed-up whether to delete it or not, and have decided to leave it there. It demonstrates just how despicable people in this ostensibly civilised country can be, and justifies me publishing David Singer as often as he wants to submit.

"A survey of discrimination and hate crimes against Jewish people in Europe, released to mark the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht (night of broken glass), suggests that antisemitism is on the rise, with three-quarters of those polled reporting an increase in the last five years and growing fears over online abuse and hate speech.

Two-thirds of those polled for the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) felt antisemitism was a problem, 76% thought the situation was getting worse and that antisemitism had increased over the last five years, and 46% said they worried about being verbally assaulted or harassed in public because they were Jewish.

A third were worried about being physically attacked, and 57% said they had heard or seen someone claim over the last year that the Holocaust was a myth or had been exaggerated.

Almost 6,000 Jewish people in eight EU member states – Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Sweden and the UK – took part in the survey. The eight nations are home to 90% of the EU's Jewish population.

The FRA, which provides expert advice to the institutions of the EU and its member states, noted that 75% of respondents felt online antisemitism was a problem, and 73% felt it had increased over the last five years.

"In almost all EU member states included in the survey, antisemitic comments on the internet emerge as an issue of primary importance to the respondents," it said. "These results need to be taken very seriously. They prompt further questions on how to effectively protect fundamental rights in the sphere of the internet while giving due attention to freedom of expression."

It concluded that online antisemitism could be contributing to Jewish people's fears of becoming victims of hate crime."

One shouldn't put much store in hearsay. Anybody who gives out a blanket opinion on an entire group of people is, by definition, discriminating against that group. And it is very common for many people from Eastern Europe to have quite anti-Semitic views - not all or perhaps even most, but anti-Semitism has a long history in that part of the world. After all, Zionism had its roots there as a reaction to violence and hatred.

It couldn't have been easy being Jewish in the Pale of the Russian empire - one couldn't own land, one was barred from many professions, from universities, and from Christian hospitals. What are people suppose to do ? Their options come down to emigration, either to the US or similar countries, or hanker for a safe haven, to a homeland in Palestine.

History is full of tragic dilemmas, and maybe the only way around this one, Israel/Palestine, is to move slowly towards a single-state, a secular democracy, from which nobody gets pushed either into the sea, or into the desert. Each side claims this baby, which must be shared if it is to survive.
