Well of course it was a lie. Politicians lie. But, much worse, it highlights the Albanese government's stupidity.
The Albanese government is too stupid to learn from what is happening in Europe, thanks to other stupid politicians. The ALP has had the advantage of seeing what happens when idiotically impossible ideas to change the climate are adopted, but they are ignoring the clear warning. The also stupid Morrison government would have been doing the same thing. Stupid voters get stupid governments. You won't have to worry about the price of electricity when it becomes too expensive to produce because of the stupid Net Zero climate policy, which looks like extending to farting cows now. With a TRILLION DOLLARS OF LIBERAL PARTY DEBT to deal with, a debt incurred by the irresponsible Morrison mob doing a cash splash for their mates from the big end of town, $2.75 billion for QANTAS, $22 million for Gerry Harvey to boosts the bottom line and pay executive bonuses. Labor will be lucky if they can deliver 5 cents in relief for the battlers and real workers of this nation. Glad to see ScumO' and co given the arse! Are we not?

Speaking of Labor Prime Ministers, Keatings had a few interesting things to say lately.
http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/oct/13/paul-keating-speculates-king-charles-could-renounce-uks-claim-on-australia "Wednesday night’s conversation between the historian and the former Australian prime minister was hosted by La Trobe University. The dialogue was wide-ranging, covering Australia’s relationships with the US and China, the Aukus submarine deal, Australia’s contemporary sense of identity, and what actions Australia should contemplate in the event of military confrontation over Taiwan." There's a link to the discussion below, but people may need to register to be able to watch the discussion. http://www.latrobe.edu.au/events/all/australia-and-china-a-conversation-with-paul-keating Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 14 October 2022 6:48:39 PM

What is the value of a political promise. Famously, Franklin Roosevelt vowed to keep America out of WWII, December 7th 1941, Japan attacked the US territory at Pearl Harbour Hawaii. At that point should have Roosevelt kept his promise to the American people and remained neutral, or go to war? My point is when it comes to keeping promises, circumstances change even for politicians and in this case of electricity costs circumstances have changed. The incoming Labor government were confronted with a hidden disaster created by the 'Morrison Mob', something reality tells us has to be dealt with, and if it means not paying out some $275 electricity subsidy then so be it. A small price to pay for COALITION incompetence on energy policy.
We have had lying scum bag politicians before, who can forget Little Johnny Howard and his "core" and "non-core" promises. Seems according to Howard he could renege on any "non-core" promise, such as welfare for the poor, but he kept his "core" promises like tax relief for the mega rich, the hall mark of a scum bag lying politician. Why am I mentioning 'Scum Bag' Howard in the same post as Franklin Roosevelt? I apologise to the memory of Franklin Roosevelt. Posted by Paul1405, Saturday, 15 October 2022 6:00:32 AM

Anyone who voted for the ALP believing that this 'promise' was going to be kept, deserves everything that's coming their way.
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." H. L. Mencken. Governments of both flavours have spent 20 years lying about the true cost of the 'green revolution'. That people keep falling for it is testament to the power of wishful thinking. There will come a time when the true cost of the net-zero idiocy becomes apparent to a reluctant electorate, but we are a long way from that time yet. Is this Labor's first really big election lie?
