Paul, you need to take a Bex and have a nice lie down.

They were stupid to try Net zero 50, it was never going to work.
They were so stupid they blew up those power stations.
No one thought, err perhaps we should mothball them, just in case !

YES, THEY REALLY ARE THAT STUPID !

The Brits and the Germans were not so stupid they mothballed theirs.

They probably blew them up so there would be no going back.
It most likely wasn't about the needs of consumers, but ensuring we stay on track with them climate targets.

Many of the things in the Powering Australia plan I'm not specifically opposed to, but I don't like the idea of targets, or more specifically having to dance to others tunes.

I'm not opposed to things that are better for the environment but I don't think it's sensible to cut our noses off to spite our faces.

Political promises are generally made at a time when the economy & voter mentality would allow to keep those promises. However, by the time a new Govt is actually taking the reigns, economy & voter mentality have nose-dived so, promises can't be kept either !
As long as money is more important to people than freedom, well !

Bazz, that is a BEX, a cup of tea and a good lie down, my grannies cure all for everything that is ailing a person, from a diagnosis of terminal cancer to a slight headache.

Well we don't have to worry about the likes of Hanson, the uneducated Senator from Queensland, or Latham last seen sitting in the retirement lounge of the NSW Parliament, Palmer is off losing another court case somewhere. This collection of numbskulls are irrelevant to Australian politics, the electorate having seen through their quick fix and divisive policies and labelled them as stupid, not to be given the time of day.

I recall the "There'll never be a GST" by Howard & people cheered. When the GST came in & filled the coffers they cheered even more. I'm still waiting for the opponents of the GST to demand for its removal !
The only way to pay for what people want but don't want to pay for is Tax. Too many are avoiding Tax whilst gleefully scooping up the benefits from Tax !
Stop blaming the pollies for what stupid people cause ! If people stopped being stupid, pollies would have no choice but perform !

The DOE looked at the idea of converting old coal power stations to nuclear, noting considerable time and cost savings as well as ongoing economic benefits to the communities.

Net zero seems to be the new socialism: Different rhetoric. Similar outcome.
