Yes I'm sure China will build a base there at some point, and I think there is certainly the potential of bringing Chinese security forces into the Solomons to be used by Sogavare against his own people.
In fact I think its probably likely now.

If any of this happens it will be the Wests fault for interfering.
And its already threatening to do so.

- I'm pretty sure that's a threat - do as we say or else -

It will be the pressure from the US, Australia and other concerned Western nations that will lead the US to build their Embassy (already just been announced) and from there organise further civil unrest in the Solomons in order to try and oust Sogavare and put in a leader more suitable to Western interests.

At this point Sogavare will use certainly use Chinese security forces (as he's already done) to put down the unrest, caused by the Wests interference.

It could be that the original protest was caused by the West, let me look.
