If Morrison is going to follow Boris on net zero, he should also follow him on nuclear. Boris intends to reach his goal by building a massive nuclear power station.

In the meantime, Barnaby Joyce made clear yesterday that the Nats won’t tolerate any change to current 2030 emissions reduction targets. He doesn't say what that means.

France has a similar petrol problem due to strikes and Germany is running out of gas.

The whole of Europe has major energy issues due to the focus on reducing emissions without a serious plan B.

You should send Adam Bent to Glasgow as he will provide enough hot air to heat the convention centre. Brown eye Bob could demonstrate how to plug in a charger.

SHY could function as a Blimp.

SM,

That would be preferable to the Coalition clowns who after 12 years are yet to agree on a climate policy. Here we have a few hayseeds in the Nationals grabbing Morrison by the short and curlies and demanding billions for the cow cockies, otherwise they'll take their bat and ball and go home. AND these fools claim to be the government for all Australians.

Paul,

The coalition has had a climate policy for at least 6 years of 27% reduction with a series of steps to reach the target which they are more than achieving.

Far better than either the idiots from Labor and the greens who happily throw up figures without a clue as to how to achieve the outcomes without screwing the economy.

In the interim China and India are happily building coal-fired boilers as fast as they can and even if all the developed countries reach net-zero it will have little effect.

Thank god for Barnaby. Don't go soft on it mate, keep the country solvent.

Given a year or two, the Poms & the EU clowns will be here, begging bowl in hand, asking for some of our coal.

G'day SM

Australia's 2030 target of 26%-28% CO2 emissions reductions is one of the lowest among OECD countries, with much higher commitments from US, Britain and Europe etc. In 2019 OECD warned that Australia was in danger of not reaching even our very modest target by 2030. Add to that "chook without a head" response from the Coalition in relation to net zero by 2050 and you can see why Australia is viewed as a underperforming developed nation when it comes to emission reduction.

The irony is the vast majority of Liberal MPs, most Nationals and the big majority of the nation will support a plan which commits Australia to a 45% reduction by 2030, and net zero by 2050. Australia is perfectly placed to become a leader in renewable energy. Some conservatives who support fossil fuel production are like the guy selling 'spats and straw hats' they think the market is going to be there forever, coal will end up like asbestos, because of the inherent danger of the product we'll have plenty in the ground, but no one to sell it to.

The Nationals need to stop the division they are attempting to create between country and city, across party lines. Presenting the bushy as the "Noble Cow Cocky" battling the elements and the latte sipping city set who don't have a care in the world, and plenty of time to make it tough for the poor bushy. That is not the truth, and there is no reason for Australian's to pay out billions to appease their BS.
