Hi Paulo and Foxy

An interesting twist on Phil's Funeral which I understand screens:

AUSTRALIAN TIME - SATURDAY at 11.40pm (ie. at night) on Channel NINE.

ABC News, 16 April, reports http://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-16/prince-harry-and-william-will-not-stand-side-by-side-at-funeral/100073310

"Prince Harry and Prince William will not walk side-by-side in the procession behind the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin at his funeral [at Windsor Castle's, St George's Chapel] it has been revealed.

...senior royals will wear morning suits instead of military uniforms traditionally worn on such occasions.

...The palace said Harry and William, who reportedly have not spoken since the Sussexes' explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, will be separated by their cousin Peter Phillips as they take part in the funeral procession to escort the duke's coffin to St George's Chapel inside the castle.

The 15-member procession will be led by Prince Charles and Princess Anne, the Queen and Prince Phillip's eldest children.

Behind them will be their two younger brothers, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, followed by Harry, Mr Phillips and William in line.

"We're not going to be drawn into those perceptions of drama, or anything like that," a palace spokesman said when questioned by reporters over the decision to split the brothers.

The Queen will follow the procession in the State Bentley...before the 50-minute service begins.

The palace also revealed the first images of the specially built Land Rover Prince Philip helped design to carry his coffin to his own funeral. [see Land Rover http://live-production.wcms.abc-cdn.net.au/ae0618e422e04b778a2a9f8623ba2589?impolicy=wcms_crop_resize&cropH=2000&cropW=3000&xPos=0&yPos=0&width=862&height=575 ]

The Land Rover was originally built in 2003, when the duke was 82, and he designed the open-top rear section that will hold his casket.

It has been by maintained and updated by Land Rover over the years, with the most recent modifications happening in 2019.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions all 30 guests inside St George's Chapel, including the Queen who will be seated alone, will wear masks and social distancing will occur."

Good Morning Pete,

I'm sure that the entire funeral will be dignified
and ceremonial as with all royal events. I shall be
watching it on Sunday at 12 Noon. Saturday evening
is a bit late for me - but we'll see.

The Queen's wishes are well chosen for this event.
And she's complying with what her husband would
have wanted. It should be very moving.

Hi Pete and foxy,

A couple of points I'm not clear on; Will the funeral be "live"?
Where in the Range Rover will Prince Phil be riding? He can't drive, they took his licence off him.

Yes Foxy, the entire funeral will be dignified, the number of Ronald McDonald look a'likes bring up the rear has been limited to a dozen all in keeping with the solemn occasion, and Covid of course, naturally the Ronald's will be socially distancing.

Pete, I think it would be a nice touch, and appropriate, if you chimed into the parade, sorry cortege, somewhere around Trafalgar Square driving your canary yellow goggomobil, just slip in behind the Royal Bentley in cause it gets a flat or something, and you can act as backup. What pubs the wake being held in, I'll put in an appearance

Hi again Foxy and Paulo an UPDATE

Best bet to watch Funeral is ABC TV News Channel 24 with coverage of proceedings from 11:00 PM (Syd time) on Saturday evening.
_____________________

The Channel Nine offering seems not so good as it now begins 9.30 PM SYD Time Saturday - so would have 90 minutes of chat and commercials before actual Funeral starts.

WITH PRINCE PHILIP'S DEATH, THE QUEEN'S ELITE INNER CIRCLE IS EVEN SMALLER

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-14/prince-philip-death-who-the-queen-turns-to-now/100061144

"For more than 70 years, Prince Philip was right there. He was a few steps behind and perhaps sometimes a little out of line, but always there supporting his wife and Queen.

Without him, the Queen says there is a "huge void" in her life and it's a place in her inner circle that cannot be easily filled.

Prince Philip was the only man in the world who treated the Queen "simply as another human being", according to the monarch's former private secretary Lord Charteris.

The duke's advice to the Queen was candid and sometimes frank — the kind of support that can only come from the person who knows you best.

Royal editor for the UK's Hello! magazine, Emily Nash, said it was the most unique of partnerships.

"He was able to speak frankly, directly and in a way I think the Queen really appreciated," she said.

"He would go through her speeches with her before she gave them and I think she really relished the opportunity to hear someone tell her frankly their opinions, when so many of those she comes into contact with are obviously full of deference."

For someone so watched and so revered, the Queen will surely miss that intimacy.

And while Prince Philip's death was still a great personal shock to the royal family, plans for what would happen after it had been in place for decades.

What could not have been prepared for years ago, was the duke dying during a pandemic and the Queen mourning from the so-called "HMS Bubble".

'HMS Bubble'

The Queen's closest and most-trusted aides and advisors have been living inside the royal bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic....MORE"
