You think that you are right. I think that I am right.
Foxy, Yes, but we've gone far beyond that by now, it's a matter of what is wrong & what is right. When things are wrong, people move to make things right. The problem then becomes that those who were right & did the right thing start doing the wrong thing for the wrong reason. They see benefits coming their way & they like it. Look at Unions for example. They were desperately needed but once they achieved what was right, they got the taste of power & now look where we are ? Doing the right thing also means knowing when to stop. The progressives chose to ignore the fulcrum & started to swing the other, the wrong way ! Unions have protected jobs in the past but now they're costing jobs ! They have protected workers but now they're exploiting them just as the Tories of old did. The academic progressives have become the Elite that used to be the Tories' domain ! It's all gone wrong & you are supporting this ! Posted by individual, Monday, 5 October 2020 11:51:27 AM

Dear Josephus,
Thank you for your comments and the link. I think that we all hope for and want a better world. We must deal with the problems that face us in order to move forward as a free, fair, and vibrant society. I have no doubt that we can find the solutions that suit us, provided as I've said many times in the past that we do not succumb to the siren calls of demagogues charlatans and ideologues. Dear Saltpetre, Thank you for your kind words. People are capable of being thoughtful and rational, but their wishes, hopes, fears and motivations often tip the scales to make them more likely to accept something as true if it supports what they want to believe. In today's era of polarized politics when facts themselves are under attack understanding this inclination to cherry pick and twist facts to fit with our existing beliefs (and finding ways to sidestep it) has according to psychologists taken on new urgency. I wrote on another discussion 0 "there's a time for the middle-finger" and a time to put it away. Posted by Foxy, Monday, 5 October 2020 11:56:33 AM

Individual,
I'm not supporting wrong-doing. On the contrary. I am encouraging rational thought and action. I certainly don't have all the answers - but working together we just might find solutions that are fair for us all. Posted by Foxy, Monday, 5 October 2020 12:02:30 PM

TRUMP EXPOSES HIS STAFF IN DRIVEBY
Trump's joyride yesterday past his simple supporters, outside Walter Reed Hospital, shocks all with brain. "It also sums up why his approval ratings have been stuck below 50 per cent through his entire presidency and why he is significantly trailing Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the polls less than a month before election day. Trump's willingness to ROPE IN SEVERAL SECRET SERVICE AGENTS TO SIT IN A CAR WITH HIM so that he could wave to supporters outside Walter Reed Medical Centre [yesterday], SHOCKED MEDICAL EXPERTS WHO SAID HE HAD ENDANGERED LIVES. "EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE VEHICLE DURING THAT COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY PRESIDENTIAL 'DRIVE-BY' JUST NOW HAS TO BE QUARANTINED FOR 14 DAYS," tweeted James Phillips, an attending physician at Walter Reed. "THEY MIGHT GET SICK. THEY MAY DIE. FOR POLITICAL THEATRE. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theatre. This is insanity." Explaining what she would do if Trump were her patient and suggested such a ride, Dr Leana Wen, a visiting health professor at George Washington University, said: "I'd call security to restrain him then perform a psychiatric evaluation to examine his decision-making capacity." We have had the Communist retrograde defective monsters who killed one of my uncles post-WWII - but such totally retrograde ideas still live.
We have had the near-perfect exemplification of racist extremism in Apartheid South Africa - yet such ideals still persist.
When once the pinnacle-quest was for truth, knowledge and enlightenment, we now suffer the hurricane of 'Fake News' set to purposely confuse, disrupt and destroy any figments of decency, honour, truth and justice.
The Modern Merlin of Mischief, the Prime Purveyor of Pusillanimous Puffery, the King of Crap, exalts and thrives in an incestuous soup of confusion, ignorance and idiocy welded to technological manipulation and devoid of moral integrity.
How low, how bereft, how incomprehensible has been the plunge from post-WWII promise of rebuilding, of reformation, of a new age of consciousness and tolerance and PEACE.
Why?
A confused world, a manipulative world, a divided world where Peace and Goodwill Toward Men may now be conceived as weakness and met with distrust, derision, denial and hatred.
Foxy has sought truth, and has demonstrated an attainment of genuine wisdom and an appreciation of Psychology which would put many so-called Psychologists to shame, yet her attempts to guide discussion towards illumination and respectful revelation of fact is met with denial and derision by the un-seekers, those welded to non-fact and non-truth, and indeed reveling and rejoicing in their ignorance and bigotry.
Pearls before devotees of dedicated division.
Their should be no 'Left' and no 'Right', no them and us, no white, black or brindled, no better or worse, deserving or undeserving, no upper and no lower - just humanity and honesty and justice and truth.
Cherful is obviously a Trump 'plant'.
ttbn, Individual, runner and Josephus - please, could you try discussion in search of truth and fact, rather than continuous repetition of tired stereotypical dogma?
Trump is disgusting. Live with it, and look for better.
