//I think that he would make a good king.//

It's hard to be a bad King in constitutional monarchy like Britain, where all the real political power is in the hands of the Parliament. His duties will consist of being wheeled out for various ceremonies, cutting ribbons, shaking hands, waving at people and hosting garden parties. Basically, unskilled labour. And pretty much what he does already, so he's experienced.

Toni,

The Armed forces would owe allegiance to him, so he would not be powerless.
He's actually quite talented.

They could do a coronation oath at Canberra handled by Australian of the Year on Jan 26 .
"Are you an Aussie and will you do the right thing?"
"Bloody Oath , mate".
"Not a pommie then?"
"I'd rather not discuss this with you if you don't mind".
"OK fair enough , you're in".

Dear Is Mise,

I tend to agree with you that Prince Charles is
quite talented. I remember reading some time
ago about his concerns regarding farming,
architecture, medicine, the environment and so
on. Apparently his opinions are always heard and
he spreads his ideas through his writings and
speeches, through his charities and his allies as well
as behind the scenes in private meetings and
correspondence with certain government ministers.

However therein lies somewhat a bit of a problem.
He is not supposed to be proactive as far as the
government is concerned because if he forfeits his
position of political neutrality as heir to the throne,
he cannot easily recover it when he is king. So how
should he reign once the wait is over will be interesting
to say the least.

However, he's been in training since he was four years old
and I am sure that he must be well aware of what he can
and can't do. I personally can't see him giving up his
concerns about issues that matter to him. It is for that
reason that I felt he will make a good king and we should
not underestimate him.

Foxy,

He's also a pilot and a skilled navigator as well as being a rather good shot.
I knew people who had served with him in the RN, both officers and other ranks and all had nothing but good to say about him.
I've never met him but have exchanged salutes, I gave the army salute and he returned the compliment with a naval salute as he was in naval uniform at the time; how he remembers to salute in accord with the uniform of the moment always amazes me somewhat.

We are very, very distant relatives but I know some of his closer relatives, they live in Sydney.
Their grandparents were employed at Buckingham Palace, he was a groom and she was a maid.
Suddenly they decided to get married and emigrate to Australia, they landed in Sydney and bought a small business.(marvelous how much one can save from meager wages!).
Their eldest son was born not long after their arrival and the older he got the more he looked like King Edward VII, in his later years he was persuaded to grow a beard and WOW!!

Dear Is Mise,

WOW - is right!

Thank You so much. I had forgotten all the other
qualifications that Prince Charles has. And Thank
You also for sharing your story with us.

One of my favourite TV programs is "Australian Story,"
and learning about people's lives, where they came from,
et cetera.

Again - Thank You. The more we learn about each other
the more this helps towards greater understanding of
each other.
