Dear Shadow Minister,

You've lost me with your derogatory use of terms
like "Juliar." I find that totally inappropriate
to this discussion.

Hi there Shadow,

Good to see you are at your pugnacious best, I thought as you aged, not so much like a fine wine, but more like a gorgonzola cheese including the mold and the smell, you might be loosing your tough. Not so, with that erroneous claim that; "We all know that you (Paul1405) are unhappy with any newspaper that does not submit its articles for approval by the labor/green ministry of truth as does the SMH and ABC." The truth being both remain two of the very limited sources of independent and unbiased news reporting within Australia.

Do not be concerned that the News Ltd gutter press should ever publish anything favorable to Labor or The Greens. Firstly, senior management are carefully vetted for any possible leftists leanings, or past history of socialists sympathies. Once it has been established 100% that the applicant is "the right sort of chap" and only then is he employed in any kind of editorial position. This process continues right down the line to the level of 'rubbish writer' your Andrew Bolt's and Piers Akerman's and the token female on board Miranda Devine, In this way 'he who must be obeyed' can rest soundly at night, as can you, knowing fukk well the truth shall not see the light of day!

Paul,

Being independent, means that one is not owned by any special interest group, which means that the SMH is no more independent than Newscorp. As far as bias is concerned, the SMH doesn't even pretend to try. It contains very little original news, but full of opinion pieces that spruik labor/green view points or policies with little to no criticism.

As for the ABC, with 85% of its journalists being either labor or greens supporters is far more subtle to bypass the charter requirement for political balance by focussing on stories that promote the left whinge agenda and ignoring those that don't, even getting caught out printing unchecked falsehoods.

Foxy,

The point is that the 3 yrs under Gillard saw a mixture of fantasy half truths and outright lies. Remember the east Timor solution she promised in 2010, and the lie that the increase in numbers was due to a push effect? The consequence was >1200 dead and 50 000 illegal immigrants. In 2013, it became clear even to labor that a strong deterrent was required which included, off shore detention, TPVs and boat turn backs, which the coalition used to stop the torrent of illegal boats in a couple of months.

Labor seems to be suffering from group amnesia and promising to repeat the same rolling stuff up that Rudd perpetrated by removing TPVs, making turn backs transparent, which will stop them, and settling those in off shore detention.

Lunacy is repeating the same actions and expecting different results.

"People-smugglers appear to be using next month’s election to dupe asylum-seekers into believing they can make it to Australia, according to refugee advocates in India.

One boat made it to the Indonesian province Aceh last week with 44 people — Sri Lankan Tamils — on board. Efforts to push the boat back to sea yesterday were unsuccessful. Another boat, also carrying Tamils, believed to be bound for Australia was intercepted off the southern tip of India a few weeks ago.

People-smugglers had been telling asylum-seekers “that change is around the corner” with the election approaching."

Dear Shadow Minister,

There are other perspectives and opinions from people who
were actually involved with having to deal with Australia's
hard-line on asylum seekers:

Why are they even called the Labor Party?
They seem to be about everything except the needs of the Australian worker; to simply keep him in slavery and servitude.

'Labor' Party is a misnomer.

The ordinary members get their say in a way. But their opinions carry no eight whatsoever in a Party that has for many years, from Whitlam, been dominated by a Fabian-inspired elite who love to dabble in social reengineering and profess loyalty to international socialism, and by union thugs who live the high life and stiff their own membership.

Astounding that so many vote by habit, never realising that where they continue to do the same they will get the same done to them. There will be NO change.

However the Greens are not the answer. Just another crew of elitist, middle class knobs who polish Senate seats and never knock back any entitlements they can take to the max. Here is an example,

"GREENS Senator Larissa Waters spent a whopping $414,000 to fit out her trendy Paddington office – more than any of her Queensland political colleagues at the time.

The office, on the top floor of a pristine-condition, split-level building on Given Tce, includes a rooftop patio with timber outdoor furniture and artificial turf."

-An expensive refurb of an already executive suite in a small niche suburb surrounded by less well off 'burbs with plenty of new and existing office space with incentives including free rental period to lease.
