A thought just occurred to me.

If as Shocker tells us Australia "will always
be white," why do so many of our young people
sit in the sun and try to be brown?
Is it because they're really
trying to blend in to today's Australia?

I don't know that young (white) Aussies are trying to 'blend in' to our new, ever-changing social environment. From what I've seen on TV some are trying like crazy to 'stand out' in a form of ritual re-enactment of a faded and fading impression of a past rebellious Oz - drinking too hard, rabble-rousing partying, testing boundaries and maybe 'shocking' their parents. (But they are hopefully a minority.)

I think many of our youth (white and otherwise) must be just as perplexed as we 'olds' about the changing 'landscape', and about their potential futures in a rapidly evolving world-scape.
I guess we just have to do our best to make sure that they are provided with the necessary tools to cope, to take advantage of opportunity, and to not only survive but to positively craft this evolving future to their advantage.

That that's what they are and have been for as long as anyone can remember?

Do Zulus and Tibetans have a particular nature/character/biology/morphology or not?

Can *anyone* be a Zulu or Tibetan, just by donning the right clothes and speaking their language?

For all your pontificating about accepting ethnic groups, you fail to even comprehend what an "ethnicity" even is!

Ethnicity *includes* genetic ancestry, biological morphology.

Zulus and Tibetans shouldn't need to morph into some panethnic form that bears no resemblance to their historical character lest they offend someone, and neither do we.

The horse is barely awake.

The majority of the population still descend from the same British/European ancestry as it did generations ago.

77% speak English only, and no other language is more than 1.6%.
70% were born here, and 54% had Australian-born parents as well.

The census "conveniently" no longer asks what race, or even ethnicity, people identify as, but you can presume the vast majority of those English-speaking, native-born people are White.

You can also presume most of the immigrants (until recently) were European.

"Other" religions total only 10%.

About a quarter of all immigrants leave the country.
Half are too old to have children.

If non-White immigration stopped *now*, the long term impact of the "others" would be miniscule.

Why should we have to "break-down the boundaries" that your policy has artificially introduced!?

If you weren't bringing alien peoples into this land, there'd be no boundaries to break!

People are often frightened by novel experiences.

'Aussie' is a nationality, and a cultural identity, not an ethnicity.

'We' are a weird mob, partly because we have such a wide diversity of ethnicities recognizable throughout Oz' history, even from the first fleet, and increasingly as active and constructive constituents within our constantly evolving social fabric.
And 'we' have continued to move forward.

Ours is the best county on Earth, not because we are homogeneous, but at least partly because we are diverse and have continued to thrive.
And in spite of, or perhaps partly because of our diversity, we have been largely immune from internal disruption.
'We' get along with one-another. (A fantastic model.)

I'm not suggesting we should welcome all comers; I don't believe 'big Oz' would be in our best interests; but we do need to keep growing, responsibly, and it's what's under the skin that determines who could make a good 'Aussie' and who wouldn't.

I'm not going to get into ethnicities, or religions, but some asylum seekers would suit me much better, as potential Aussies, than some ex-IRA or KKK good-ol'-boys.

No, Australians are an ethnic group.
They are biologically and culturally descended from Europeans (primarily British).

And almost all European peoples are descended from a common bio-cultural origin too, going back 6000 years.

People were calling themselves "Australians" before the political nation "Australia" even existed.
And those people were White.

Look at the photographs, portraits and statues from past centuries.
White, White, White.

Yes, there are "others" in our history, but they are a TINY FRACTION, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it phenomena, with no significant influence.

If salmon only swim among salmon, they may not notice their "salmonness".
When they suddenly confront an octopus or eel, they realise they're "salmon" and these other creatures are not.

The more "others" you artificially impose on us, the more "Australians" will become self-conscious of their particular ethnicity.

And your kind wonder why "racism" and nationalism are rising!
It's the direct result of YOUR policy!
