OUG how many of the perpetrators are Priests?
Runner judge not least you be judged.
Again why,it baffles me, why are the God bothers SOMETIMES the very worst type to sell him?
I see saint like Christian Ministers out in the street feeding the poor and they are hero's and true Christians.
But too a special type of bigotry from far too many claiming God gives them a right to judge others, his teaching never did!

Many of you might find this interesting.

From the Washington Post.

"Sexual abuse of minors is not the province of the Catholic Church alone. About 4 percent of priests committed an act of sexual abuse on a minor between 1950 and 2002, according to a study being conducted by John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. That is roughly consistent with data on many similar professions.

An extensive 2007 investigation by the Associated Press showed that sexual abuse of children in U.S. schools was "widespread," and most of it was never reported or punished. And in Portland, Ore., last week, a jury reached a $1.4 million verdict against the Boy Scouts of America in a trial that showed that since the 1920s, Scouts officials kept "perversion files" on suspected abusers but kept them secret.

"We don't see the Catholic Church as a hotbed of this or a place that has a bigger problem than anyone else," Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, told Newsweek. "I can tell you without hesitation that we have seen cases in many religious settings, from traveling evangelists to mainstream ministers to rabbis and others.

Part of the issue is that the Catholic Church is so tightly organized and keeps such meticulous records -- many of which have come to light voluntarily or through court orders -- that it can yield a fairly reliable portrait of its personnel and abuse over the decades. Other institutions, and most other religions, are more decentralized and harder to analyze or prosecute."

After a little research. Yes married men have become ordained. Unmarried ordained catholic priests may not marry but may petition to be released from his vow of celibacy to marry. Relinquishing many of his duties. The vow of celibacy is in place for the subject to 'devote themselves to the church and not to women'. Which, as I read, 'firstly includes the promise of chastity, to abstain from all sexual expression'. Chastity also is said to be very difficult (including self gratification) for men particularly. Some priests were found to have broken a small part of their vow (self grat..) and had moved to further sexual acts including abuse of minors. Some I might boldly suggest, are victims of circumstance, in hindsight may never have entered the clergy, horrified at the thought that they may offend in this way. Still a crime against another human has been committed. Penalty for violation of the vow is removal from the clergy, further punishment should be administered by the law, as with any other sexual offender.
Still on the strength of their belief and conviction to God, unless married of course, should volunteer for medical intervention of the removal or at least the reduction of sexual urges. Humane castration.
Nip it in the bud, so to speak.
As for convicted pedophiles, Many of whom have deep seeded psychological problems, their behaviour has become a disease of the mind and controls them. Something that may never be exorcised and probably one of the most difficult class of offenders to make the punish fit the crime. In unprotected custody they would no doubt be dealt with. Castration, even the age old treatment of shock therapy, other than that, I have to do some more study.
