The ABC 24 "the Drum" reports:

The Green senator what's his name proposed to scrap the Lord's Pray when federal parliament opens.

The Left found the pray offensive to Jews and Muslims and atheists alike.

The lords 'prayer' has no place in modern Australian parliaments, except for Christian politicians who may (quietly!) say it to themselves if they feel the need.

Why should everyone have to say the words to someone else's God, or even worse, if they don't believe in gods at all.

At best it would be boring for all those who don't want to chant useless, time wasting words, and at worst, it may even be offensive to some politicians.

Just because the old boys in parliaments over the years have always mindlessly chanted the words when required, doesn't mean they have to continue doing it today.
They aren't in church for goodness sake!

Parliament house is not a Catholic institute. They say the Lords Prayer? Nobody likes Religion to be pushed onto them and for those who have their beliefs, some extreme,to have to acknowledge someone else's God let alone be expected to take part in the chant, offended, to me a bit extreme but a certain feeling of disregard and disrespect. Religion is a personal choice/belief with a time and a place. Not in the workplace.

Ok, ok, ok, let's do away with The Lords Prayer.

But no half measures,eh!

Whilst we're in the mood for dispensing with "useless, time wasting" and "offensive" words, let's also do away with those ridiculous preludes or postludes which rhapsodize the guardians and traditional owners of the land.

Come-on Greens and progressives do we have your ayes on this?
