"Foxy my views in no way blame you or Paul for yours.
It is just that I disagree totally with them." So Belly when I said;
"if I could wave a magic wand and both (all religion) would disappear I would not hesitate." You would hesitate on religion, keeping all organised religions as they are.

I also said; "Even if I accept Islam is a hateful religion, and I'm not an expect on that, but since I categorise all religions as harmful, I accept that it is. Like Christianity is harmful it does not necessarily follow that all adherents are harmful, a minority are most definitely a danger to society no matter what religion they follow." You do not see religions as harmful or a dangerous minority, within? being in total disagreement as you are.

In discussing Islam, one
camp calls for uncompromising indictment of all
they see as guilty, while another argues for
individual differences and tolerance. To many,
explanations seem tantamount to sympathising and
excusing, and this all too easily leads onto the
questionable practice of stereotyping people.
Both sides seem reluctant to modify their
judgements. However continued stereotyping of any
people can encourage "counter-stereotyping" and the
result is usually a complete breakdown in communication.

I've written in the past that people in different walks
of life may interpret the same phenomenon - whether it is
a religious doctrine, a prime minister's policies, et cetera,
in very different ways. In other words, people tend to see
the world from a viewpoint of subjectivity - an interpretation
based on personal values, and experiences. It is
influenced by our background, education, training, and so on.
Inevitably we are all guilty of some measure of bias -
the tendency, often unconscious, to interpret things
according to one's own values.

Yet a healthy, vital society is not one in which we all agree.
It is one in which those who disagree can do so with honour
and respect for other people's opinions, and an
appreciation of our shared humanity. Without personal
commitment to the attributes of fair play and integrity,
Australia is in grave danger. Malice and intolerance stalk
our society, staking claim to our minds, and not one corner
of our social order is unaffected.

Hitler could never have risen to power had it not been for
vast numbers of people who gave him that power. Although they
did not share his hatred, they did not have a solid,
moral commitment to not hate. Only a society in which there is a
widespread commitment to not hate is safe from hatred.
A little hatred is like a little cancer.

Anyway, I've expressed my opinion, for whatever it's worth.
And I Thank You all for a robust discussion.

Paul1405,
Paul I see you condemning and calling for change of the religious person in every post. As I have said previously give us your version of good character and publicize and evangelize it with the same passion you condemn others.

What is your positive vision of a good character?

OUG sorry but I did try.
Took my time and read as much of your post under mine as I could.
Never finished it!
Look I seem to be in trouble for telling it like it is, and for saying what most wanted said.
Not here but off line, more to come.
But if we value our own opinions, but never understand others may just be right, no room for improvement exists.
OUG you threw individual names/things back at me like hot stones to compare with Islam.
Why has this subject seen so many posts?
If not because it concerns many.
Now reverse this thread, take a look at the thoughts some aim at us who are troubled by Islamic settlement here.
Are our views OK can we hold them.
Is the lumping of us as racist bigots in tune with the fair go you and others ask for Muslims?
