With the report on 730 about the Australian suicide bomber, one has to ask that given he was an Australian Muslim, do we take a stand now, and ban the religion from our country, or do we simply wait until one of these so called Australians commits such a crime here.

I say we should act now and ban the religion, because let's face it, it's the religion that causes the problem, not so much the people.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA CONSTITUTION ACT - SECT 116
Commonwealth not to legislate in respect of religion

The Commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.

Dear Rehctub,

Banning any religion violates the above provision of the Australian Constitution.

rehctub, as a person concerned with civil liberties I'm very hesitant to support this 'banning' practice. As I'm not a supporter of religions in general, to what extent would you want this 'banning' taken, would the Catholic Church be banned because it is rife with pedophiles? What other organisations would you ban, political parties, what other subversive organisations? You can't tell where this might lead, a new law even, where people are charged with "Un-Australian Activity".

How many more times does it have to be said before action is taken. BAN ALL RELIGION outside the home ! We desperately need museums etc ., we could use all those churches for that purpose. All the money tied up in churches would solve all hardship in our community.
