Such a religion? One can look at the massive destruction and death in the Wars of the Reformation. One need not go back that far. Protestants and Catholics slaughtering each other in Northern Ireland. Orthodox and Catholics slaughtering each other in Bosnia. Christianity is also such a religion. From past and recent examples it is a concern under the appropriate social conditions. There is an undercurrent of violence and hate in Christianity. Where there is general prosperity without great social inequities as there is in Scandinavia the evil of Christianity is countered.

otb,

I was merely quoting what I had been told by the
Director of Nursing at two Blu-Cross aged-care
facilities here in Melbourne. They hired migrant
staff because they were cheaper - and excellent.
And this is straight from the "horses -mouth."
It confirms what Danielle was saying earlier.

Dear Bazz,

The cuts in Queensland to hospitals that have been
done recently by the current government there
with front-line nursing staff are outrageous.
And the same is happening in Victoria currently.
So say what you will, the facts are there.
Of course our current new government blames everything
on the carbon-tax - while my daughter-in-law who
is on the board of one of the largest hospitals
here in Melbounre - can't believe the rhetoric.

Dear Bazz,

Having surpluses is important - but so is balance.
Concentrating only on the debt side of the ledger
and neglecting the asset side (and infrastructure)
presents even larger problems down the track.

Dear Josephus,

Historically the Catholic religion does a pretty
good job as well.
Attack-dog policies are the foundation stones of
Catholic Christian Brothers schools as my husband
can attest - he was a product of them. It's
turned him off religion.

Islam is not uniform.

Indonesia has the highest Islamic population in the world.

I lived in Malaysia some years back. Women wore fitting sarongs and diaphanous kabayas, they wore their hair loose and long and makeup. They danced with men, there was no restriction of movement between them. Islam was a gentle and benign religion. There have been changes, but I don't see Malays nor Indonesians ever ascribing to any violence

We have had Muslims in this country since the 19th century. There a different Islamic populations here - and quite disparate ... and need one say, expressing not only disapproval but horror at some activities of others.
