".....I prefer to look at history with open eyes and remain neutral. Every race, religion and people are guilty of killing those who refuse to bow the knee. All have shown 'no mercy' in their purging of the 'enemy'. Australia killed/murdered many 'nationals' to settle here. That was British colonial rule practised for centuries and ...."
and that was why the Mabo deciion was reached the British Government of the day respected the rights of the original inhabitants.
That is also why the Maori enjoy the benefits of the Treaty of Waitangi

Servant of God, I suggest that you brush up on history

" All of us who refuse to follow Islam are enemies of Islam and there is no room in their world for people like us"

I would further suggest that you read the Qur'an and other Islamic writings on "People of the Book", which includes Jews, Christians and Hindus.

Foxy, "The current health care agencies due to Mr Abbott's axe cuts probably could not afford to hire the "white" staff"

What complete rot! You are making things up as you go. There has been high unemployment of nurses in Australia for years. Nurses and Nursing Federation spokespeople have regularly drawn attention to the many nurse graduates who have been unable to get jobs, owe a small fortune in HECS debt and look like losing their nursing registration because they cannot get work. They have been finding hold-over jobs as waitresses and cleaners for goodness sakes.

If as someone else has said, hospitals are being staffed by Muslim nurses I would need to be convinced of that. However if there is any truth in it, it is an indictment of immigration policy and education and manpower planning at the highest levels of government.

There is no doubt at all that federal and States planning do not link and there is no whole of government approach. Having said that, there is no possibility it could be improved by more central control or reporting to Canberra. That is where so many problems spring form anyhow.

Maybe if the federal government could curtail the blow-out of taxpayers' $$ expended annually on the victim industries, on illegal immigrants, multiculturalism, Office of women with status and indigenous housing that never seems to get built but costs mega-millions, the ambulances would not be ramped outside hospital emergency departments, hospital beds would be available, nursing graduates would find work, and we would be able to build up the numbers of trained, experienced nurses required by the booming population and changed demographics.

Dear Foxy,

I am referring to my observations of two years ago. I do not know what the health system will be like with Abbott's cuts ...

SPQR,

You may be right that Islamic health-care workers are not the majority across the board; it would be an interesting exercise to establish the % of this group in relationship to others.
However, I suspect an exercise of this nature would not be PC.

From my experience of a month in two different public hospitals a couple of years ago, Muslims were certainly the majority there. They were also first rate. I have never been one to bend the knee to doctors, so am not impressed easily.

This experience was also notable for the fact that there were very few white doctors and nurses in either hospitals.

Having a husband in a private high-care facility, I can assure you that, again, non-Europeans were the majority of health carers.

The Muslims I encountered were far removed from the thugs as mentioned above. I would also opine that the numbers of the former group are far, far in excess of those of the latter.

As I have stated, I do not ignore an elephant in the room. But one has to be absolutely even handed.

Danielle,

I have no problem believing the majority in metro centres may be of non-European background, and there are probably a lot of reasons for that. Not least, the fact that as part of the education package we offer overseas medical students is the opportunity to work in Oz medical centres and perhaps qualify for residency.

<<The Muslims I encountered were far removed from the thugs >>
Maybe, but I am always reminded of a piece I read from a former expat family who lived in Iran. They were astounded at --with the ascendency of the ayatollah --how quickly neighbours and friends who they had known for years as moderate Muslims almost overnight became rabid fundamentalists calling for the death of all infidels.

And how many times have we all heard from neighbours and friends that terrorist x was such a nice chap and showed no signs of being an extremist, they couldn't believe he would ever do anything like that.

I rather question the wisdom of encouraging migration from peoples who hold firmly to sacred books which call for the destruction of non-believers.

It would be a very brave person who would claim looking back will see the issue fixed in just this country or the world.
50 years from now do not expect centurys of hate to have died away.
Can we confront a truth, western nations are steaming away from religion.
Just have an honest look at the numbers fewer by far are practicing their religion.
It is not so for this faith.
Poorer less educated country,s are the growth are as for all religion.
I see much pain ahead and we only need see the middle east and Muslim Murdering Muslim to understand some of the true concerns such a religion brings with it.
