While reading it again, and understanding not just the Church offends a thought came to me.
How can those who offend not understand that Child will grow up and one day look in to their eyes.
How can those organizations [now the YMCA] tell them selves hiding such a life destroying crime is an action they should even think off.
Yes time and again we revisit this and other subjects but as the Royal Commission and other inquiry's remind us daily we should have held this conversation long ago.
In matters of sex we and some Churches seem lost.
Some fight against Gay marriage till the last, but took little action against far worse in their midst.

Two things:

first, of course the RC church's sex offences are awful, but it wasn't only sex abuse, and it wasn't just the RCs either. I know you care, so have a look into the treatment of the children shipped here from WW2. State and ors treatment of State wards too.

- sadly, no-one can guarantee that it doesn't happen again.

One under God, yes, child sexual abuse is awful and criminal, no matter who the perpetrators are.

I think the Catholic Church is brought up so often because their paedophile priests and brothers and lay people were based, and offended at, all over the world. So the offending against kids was on a much bigger scale than other organisations.

However, the main reason that the so-called holy catholic church is mentioned so often is the fact that they have always put themselves out there as being pillars of society, the word of god, the fight against evil, protectors of the downtrodden etc etc.

So the fact they have done these atrocities, and have, and still do, try to to hide and protect the paedophiles in their midst is doubly disgusting...

It is the main reason why so many people from this church, and others, have finally seen the light, and moved towards a more secular society...thank goodness.

Who of us ever thought such a crime at the hands of such people would take place?
Hiding it is no answer OUG, the very first act in stopping future crimes and forcing payment for ones gone is unveiling them.
Of course we know that Church is not the only offender but underline this, they betray a God they exist for.
OTB a true left union has infiltrated the greens and in my view is more at home there than the real world.
Again we will see more words in print and in all Medea about Gay marriage than about acts against Children.
