sonofgloin,

You titled this thread "When will the mania stop?"

Reading your final two paragraphs directed at moi - I'm asking the same question.

Mania!

I hope it never stops! I love reading all this stuff, I find it really entertaining watching the manic demonization of asylum seekers. I can hear the voice of Ray Hadley, and imagine you all sitting round the wireless while I read this stuff.

'Why I heard they give them $2000k a day and they spend it on drugs and they eat children. Saw it on ACA last night!'.

I think you all need a bex and a good lie down, but I'm not about to hand it out as it would spoil my fun!

There's nothing more funny than watching a bunch of old guys spewing ignorance and hatred of foreigners and bemoaning the state of the world and the guvment and romantasizing about the good old days.

I was in the process of commencing my second paragraph on this particular topic, then stopped, and deleted everything I'd already typed. We've covered this issue thoroughly, on many previous occasions. We all know and realize that under the current administration, there'll be nothing meaningfully done, nothing at all. At least until September next.

Apparently in September, from all I've heard there'll be a change of government, and the problem will again, become that of the Liberal's ?

Will they be able to stop these illegals once again ? Last time they did, and did it quite successfully too. But can they weave their collective magic once more ? This time I'm not so sure ?

See the trouble has always been in Australia, whatever the problem is, or isn't, we deal with things very poorly here. All we ever seem to do is talk about ? We talk, and talk, and talk some more...? Seemingly without reaching a REAL fair dinkum decision ! And once we do finally make a decision, we often fail to execute it ?

I've often mentioned this conundrum to my ol' mate BELLY, and without pre-empting him, I think he agrees ? Despite us being, at an irreconcilable political variance ?

Whether it's building a second airport for Sydney. Strengthening, laws against Middle Eastern crime gangs...whatever. We're either too weak, or we lack the political will to carry any decision through. Often without again visiting upon the problem until it's exacerbated to a point that it's become much much worse, until it finally becomes insoluble ?

In the end, all that can be done, we simply schedule yet another meeting, in order to find a further solution. The whole problem becomes merely cyclical, and recurring in nature ! Without any meaningful solution ever transpiring.

That quaint term - 'the Elephant' in the room ? Sure he's there, but we don't seem to know what to do about him ! We Aussies, seem incapable of ever embracing a difficult problem, and then solving it. But we can sure talk about it ?
