Pledges in blood will worry the liberal's. I think if there's a change of leader for one side there will have to be a change for the other.
Gillard is very strong, but likings will go for the new leader of the opposition for some time. And the libs can dump all those pledges in blood. Abbott will have an international image as a whimp, after the last lashing from Gillard.
Still a full 12 months away from an election, there will be plenty of excitement to come.

DP, how old are you mate? did you live in those 23 years we spent in opposition.
Feel the hope every election day then the horrible hurt and pain.
We as well as the DLP contributed to those days.
Do you remember the results of every Howard victory, did you see the depths Latham, Gillard on his arm took us to.
Remember Simon Crean? rode in to the house on the back of the trade union movement and his wonderful Dad?
He rolled big Kim, assisted by Gillard/Latham and others.
DP no chance not one Gillard can win an election.
Right now, confronted by THE WORST LEADER ANY PARTY EVER HAD she holds a lead only because of him.
Tomorrow, if Rudd Shorten, Combet lead us, we would be ten points higher than now.
But we are stalled, held back by a refusal to admit it was wrong.
We confront Turnbull and massive defeat because some own my party.

Belly, your personal loathing of Gillard clouds your judgement.

Gillard is one gutsy, strong and persistent leader. Labor is governing not just for the present, but the future.

Abbot would have withered under the strain very quickly indeed if the Coalition had formed a minority government. He's FAR too weak to not wilt under the pressure.

The polling shows Gillard is the preferred leader over Abbott, BY A LONG WAY.

The 2 party preferred vote is now 50/50.

Labor, under Gillard, has been steadily improving in the polling month after month after month. The trend is clear. The public is getting clued up regarding the amazing strength of Gillard, and the defensive, immature negativity and constant daily LIES from Abbott.

But belly, you don't see all this. Your judgement is impaired by your personal loathing of Gillard.

Belly, youre spot on, we have two lost leaders.

While some think Gillard has gained ground on Abbot, I see it differently, in that Abbot has simply slipped a few rungs to be below Gillard.

As I say, our political arena is like a game of snakes and ladders, trouble is, the only way is down. Comforting thought.

Robert, in this case I hope your dreams don't come true, as the greens want to shut most industries down, increase the dole and increase support and intake numbers for the illegals, all on a lower tax basis due to loss of inductry and jobs.

I prefer, for our sakes, to think you are dreaming.

As for labor winning the next election, now there's a problem, cause god only knows where we will be in another four years from now, if thempast five have been any guide to go on.

Nobody could possibly wish that on us, surely.

DP please please check your facts!
How cann you put on display the fact you do not know the current polls true position.
I wait for them like one of those folk sitting on the footpath for days.
To get a ticket or new I pad.
I turn them over and read then nearly upside down.
This is true, on polling day, NSW Local government, Liberals cried about Abbott Labor cried for Rudd.
I doubt you ever heard about faceless men, power brokers, plots and plans.
My partys birthright came from workers not suits.
We confront this, enough true beleaver,s and swingers will not vote for your red head to say, with complete certainty she can never win.
Tell me, please areyou very young?
We gain nothing by ignoring the truth.
Trotting off to get in line to, jump over the cliff.
Now, not after our near death, is the time to stand up for the ALP.

Watch what they do, not what they say...all this theatre at question time may be entertaining, but isn't it a curtain for what is going on?
Gillard has Thomson and Williamson hanging on to her coat, and she defended Slipper just as strongly even though she knew he was corrupt.? How can you trust her when she will do and say anything re remain in power.

And look at the promises like the schools program, promised but where is the money coming from. The carbon tax is still to make its impact, but what a fool Abbot was using that electricity bill!
The libs are supposed to be better economy managers...in this instance I wonder. C an't stand a government that has to rely on the Greens who should go back to defending the forests and similar things, they haven't any sense at all when it comes to other issues.
especially boat people. Where has the debate on that gone? Being covered up by misogynist charged against Abbot...I despair sometimes.
