I do see it as two seperate issues. The reason most want the boats stopped is because they are con artists and we are being taken for a ride. We do not abide cheats and gate crashers who simply impose themselves on us and it is costing us. i do not think the Sri Lankens are muslims but they are illegals.

In relation to immigration I would not ban all muslims and some i would ban may not be muslim. For example I loathe FGM and it is likely that some that practice it could be christians, but to my thinking all groups that practice FGM would be banned from coming here.

The leb muslims would be banned but non muslims lebs allowed. Croats and serbs would be banned because they fight each other over centuries old disputes and they still do even after 3 generations here.

if we can identify those groups that force the young to marry against their will they would be stopped.

Now look how many countries these people coming here could go, that are much closer than Australia but don't instead they come thousands of miles - most are economic refugees or as I say welfare for lifers.

Belly - It will not work because Malaysia and Indonesia give them nothing not 1 cent, therefore they have to come here so the Australian taxpayers will support them. The only means of support they can get is to work illegally for FOOD & LODGING only no salary.
A lot that come the $5,000 to $9,000 passage is paid to the smugglers in Australia by relatives etc who are already here.

Philip you are missing the point. If these people are going to end up in Malaysia, they won't be getting the money for a boat ride will they. Think about it.

579 You are missing the point, once they get to Australia the taxpayer has to support them even if they are sent back to Malaysia. If they stay their they get NOTHING not 1 cent from Malaysia or Indonesia.
