Put your self, even briefly, in the boots of an average Australian Worker ALP voter.
Those like me,bought up to think of our two support groups, party and union as our safety net. Tell me, an informed person, why NSW had to happen. Tell me why the promising and growing NSW Country Labor had to be MURDERED. Why our Sussex Street became the home of suits without heads, with zero care or understanding of me and my fellow true believers. Why HSU was even considered the home of worthy ALP federal members. On my wall, hangs with great pride, a photo of our greats,Bob Carr,Kim Beasley, at our $5.000 table,Celebrating the life of a Labor great. I have told of that night, here before. About the swarm of YUPPIES middle class upwardly mobile couples circling those who could put their next step of the ladder under the left foot for them. Lawyers academics, Green like in their dreams of an Australia Blue collar wearers are as less interested in as the whole country. What has become of the ALP, its parent the Union movement? I remember, the feeling of isolation, the thought those Sussex Street bound couples thought of us as filth! in the midst of MY ALP! A dance took place! as they tried to put every inch they could between us and them, and we did the same. In part, some unions, have be come the bosses, others are stuck in a past that not longer exists, class warfare. Why must Labor fish in union ponds for its members, and land ugliness like HSU refugees. Why is every Blue collar person aware no one wanted or wants Gillard but not the party. We who built this party, who give still to both legs of our support groups. Are refugees from the self interest that has taken our dream away. Reform? what will be left to build on? The she will be alright, we know what we are doing, search for a cliff to jump off,is insulting the rank and file. Give us a leader give us reform give my party back.! Many are weary of politics, many I suspect are weary of me yet I intend to continue this thread, as I have others.
Others that did not bring a lot of comments other than mine. WHY? unpopular as it makes me I fear, no other word will do, GREENS. Only they grow in ALP rubbish. Watched my ALP for two decades plus, lost in a land voters did not even want to visit. Blue collar workers have had a gutful of Labor. First Labor, and Unions long before expecting them, the very life blood of both, to return, must confront that. Nothing is wrong with the pursuit of excellence, you may never get there, but in chasing it you get better. No mud must be thrown until you throw it at your faults. Australia is blind, totally, to the worst EVER opposition in its history. My party and its co owner Union power brokers, gaining the very power they abuse from the very people they betray, me and my brothers/sisters. Are on the wrong track. Look at Robo, John Robinson in NSW given the empty rubbish bin to rebuild he, FIRST demanded NEVER again! When we stop defending our policy's, our wish to get the bills past the acts installed and running. When we stop telling the drowning in fear and, despair, ALP Union foot soldiers, ground my party unions walk on, us, they do not understand? Stop telling me how tough Gillard is, look at how hard it is to just walk on the streets, or even in a union building! wearing our 2007 battle dress. First fix our problems, then the rabid media may very well look at a fiasco that is less visible than ours Abbott's circus. Union officials have for generations been hunted out of lunch rooms by unthinking claims, now HSU has shown some claims are true. Ostriches leave vulnerable parts in the air, only action is not hiding but fixing this. Posted by Belly, Thursday, 10 May 2012 7:10:08 AM

Dear Belly,
Here's my few thoughts - for what they're worth. My advice to you is - Take it easy. In this toxic political environment - don't beat yourself up over it, and certainly don't do a "Richo" on your party - giving the conservatives more ammo (like they need your support). The FWA Report is dreadful, no one can deny that. And no one is suggesting that things should be ignored. However, I'm sure that due process is taking place - and everything will get resolved in time. However, - the media and the Coalition are doing a good job of hammering the government - you really don't need to add to it. Posted by Lexi, Thursday, 10 May 2012 10:51:00 AM

Lexi on Tuesday night, in my former office, dieing the presentation, these words thrilled me most.
Full of Passion, as he always is, Belly blah blah. highlighting Liberal faults is not possible, we can not get past our own. But my actions are passionate, and come from love, for my two life time loves. Lexi, all, know nothing is to be gained by ignoring our impending near death. It comes. I think, sadly know, our policy's are far better than Abbott's. Yet the Craig Thomson affair, its 3 years of disgraceful shameful being hidden, taints us. Slipper? his former party hide him for ten plus years. Labor has to fight biased media, uninformed commentators let free even on the ABC to slant messages and questions. So we need a thousand more Belly's, riding on the back of the chariots, not saying you are not a God,but saying you got that wrong. On election I will have done everything in my power to turn the ALPs head, let it look through the eyes of its own side. Lexi our only chance is to stop hoping the country fears Abbott, and know they fear Gillard more. HSU? Unionism is in real danger it may never re cover from this unions lowest act any union can do. Power brokers? HSU is a power breaker, bury the dead thing, not cover it up. My mates are much hotter than me, I will still vote Labor . Posted by Belly, Thursday, 10 May 2012 4:14:39 PM

Dear Belly,
I don't for one minute doubt that your actions come from love. However, all I'm saying is - lets wait until all the facts are in. I don't believe in blaming the entire organisation - like the HSU for the actions of a few rotten sods. I'm sure there's enough genuine, decent people that make up the HSU. The union should not be judged by what a few corrupt and greedy men did. They shall be called to account. As for FWA - and it taking as long as it did for the report to come out. I read on another site - FWA is separate from the Commonwealth - and is not controlled (and shouldn't be) by its executive. Apparently -it also was not equiped to deal with the allegations that fell into its lap. And there were more than one or two. It had an enormous amount of work that it had to do - and it needed to be done properly - hence the time taken was necessary. Now, we need to let the process be completed - and as I stated in my early post - things will be resolved in due course. As for the Prime Minister's leadership? Mistakes have been made, granted - but it's still a while until the next election and she is getting on with the job of governing. Who knows in politics anything may happen yet. We'll have to wait and see. I heard this morning that Peter Costello wants to come back into the political arena. Now that would throw a spanner into Tony Abbott's comfort zone. Take it easy and chin up. We care about you. Posted by Lexi, Thursday, 10 May 2012 6:45:56 PM

Lexi in fact a race horse follower gets far more involved in the form guide than one who is not interested.
I got very much interested and took a roll in politics and unionism. If today it was my task, or yours to put together a modern plan, a constitution for the ALP. Knowing about its foundation, the tree of knowledge, its reason to exist, its birth parents the union movement. And its battle to define its self against Communism. I would first talk about trust, never ever betraying its founders or its current followers. As unions hold 22% no more, of workers as members,I would rightly, brand HSU as traitors/criminals. I would demand accountability and openness from both. Lexi understand a current plan to remove Gillard is underway. She will be removed. If Shorten gets the job he will, instantly, put Labor back on the map. Note too, no one wants to ask Australia would they vote for Rudd, they would still. Gillard can never get Her knifing of him off her back. To silently except a wrong from your own side, but expect the wrongs of the other side to be uncovered is Liberal Party practice not Labors I hope. once more individual, grant me the same I gave you, ignore me . You are not equipped to judge others. and if not a troll what are you? *You asked me to ignore your posts* Gladly, please do the same for me, you are equipped to comment on anything. I am reminded that in discussions such as this we will always clash.
Opinions are cheap and as common as leaves on the ground at this time of the year. Too that I am not special, I get it wrong as often as any one. But also that some are lost in a land only they know. In 1970, I warn and weary at SOME in Labors flirtation with Communism, and Socialism, left my past flirtations with both forever. The big bloke EGW, offered real hope,he even had to guts to take on the then Faceless men, oh the existed then, and yes to a lessor extent exists now. How many will remember a power broker Charlie Oliver? He headed my union, The great Australian Workers Union. His power was such he *Gave permission*! for EGW to stand for the leadership of the ALP! In my mind, still today,Unions should concentrate on their members. Not controlling the ALP. Workers are not all ALP voters and they refuse to join us, let my party breath.. Fund campaign but not rule the ALP. We the ALP stand on the brink of a real life horror story. Union faction heads put us there. The lights on the hill once saw us march in hope, now the worker living in that old house would be hard pressed to be selected for a seat in Parliament. And unlikely to become a union official in most unions. HSU, ALP concealing it, putting Thomson in a seat? Grave yards around Australia rumble as our forefathers roll in their graves. We will rebuild , be the party we once had been but first? Get Gillard out. Posted by Belly, Friday, 11 May 2012 12:40:49 PM

Events have moved on, merging my early thread Hobsons choice or no choice.
And about ten, from me and others about Gillards rule. Even ones about Tony Abbott. A wind is blowing,as it strengthens it removes nails one by one. Soon the sheets of iron will start flying. Gillard can not survive this year, maybe not next month. Those asking me to view Abbott must understand, Australia is blind to him, while Gillard rules. And AG after Gillard he too, will face his gale,as sure as the sun shines. Labors new leader, who ever, must confront the task, dumping the rubbish, right or wrong, on others. And even knowing Abbott may take government without an election fight both internally, ALP/Unions to be seen as honest. And confront our part in hiding the true nature of Conservative Australia and its media puppets. Good by Julie, thanks, for nothing, except going. Posted by Belly, Saturday, 12 May 2012 6:11:01 AM

I once told Graham, and it still stands, if I am banned I will take it like a man.
So far just once, have I been censored, not banned but warned. Funny that was for targeting the other person, not the one I was charged with. Long ago in the pigs free range or not days. Probably came close a few times. Wounder how far we can go, in self defense? Can I question some ones sanity? IQ? under standing? Am I to constantly try to reject my views of a troll? or is it flamer? Well yes suppose so, so very many can. So yes take a breath walk away. Any one see Thomson's statement? Believe it? Want to buy shares in an oil well? in my back yard, funny enough right in the place a dill changed his motor oil when I was not watching. Is it true, the biggest branch of the Labor Party in NSW is the Long Bay Branch? Move over Milton, Craig is on his way. Once again I must make a Rex Jackson Memorial Award, yep a Rexy Jackson gong is awarded to, wait for it. Craig Thompson for his selfless giving to all those 20 buck an hour PSA's and other low paid workers at hospitals all over NSW and Victoria. Like me Belly, I'm sure you are all chocked up. I'm brought to tears when I think of those great humanatarians like Albert Schweitzer, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and now in my mind, they are joined by one of Labor's finest sons Craig (I don't screw around) Thompson. Julia loves his vote, any comment? Posted by Paul1405, Saturday, 12 May 2012 8:20:41 PM

I must add, it is my view that as an adverse finding by FWA will get an ordinary worker the sack. Whats this rubbish about Thompson keeping his job until he's found gilty in a court, come off it Gillard does she think Australian are that stuiped.

Paul I find your insults at least have some class to them.
Not direction, but unlike my personal flea, following me around to taunt with gobbled Dee gook, it has some class. You may have noticed the grub who you bring up again Rex Jackson, his name almost makes me bring up again, was a Labor slug, not the norm. As was his equal in Conservative QLD. And in passing this thread you may too notice it is not a complementary one to my party and that union. Rare in the Greens if not extinct, self criticisms. This morning, haveing digested your serving of bile, and understanding it comes as a reward for my considered opinion of the Greens, I am happy with my views. Australia, this morning, must confront to damage Labors dysfunctional leadership, its power brokers, its blind to rank and file, WE have delivered. We are feeding such as Paul, hiding Tony Abbott, damaging the very roots of our twin movements. Ignoring this country will not look to Abbott's attempts to insult law and order /democracy, until we mend our own bridges. Thomson's is a maggot, every trade unionist knows that. Labor is under Gillard going to deliver far worse than work choices. We are sponsoring Tiny Target Abbott's Prime Minister ship. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 13 May 2012 7:23:09 AM

Belly,
Good morning, and a happy Mothers Day if you are a mum. If not have a happy day anyway. Please don't take my attacks on you so seriously I view you as conservative labor which at least partly makes you an I allies, I think we both believe in 'fairness for all' as opposed to the out and out conservatives with their dog eat dog mentality . It was my stated belief after the last election that Abbott not Gillard should have formed the government, no support from us Greens just a we will deal with everything as it comes approach. My thoughts were met with horror by many of my Green friends it was "Abbott oh no, Paul what are you thinking." My reply at the time put Abbott in, he will be such an unmitigated disaster, he would be hopeless running a majority government little lone a minority one. In no time he will fail, a little pain for us all, Then we do a DLP and bring on an election and boot the conservatives to kingdom come. Now Gillards has failed with a minority government, we now entertain the prospect of years of conservative rule, Abbott will be gone just can't cut it, but never the less like NSW the conservatives will hold a thumping majority and it will be Howard revisited for years and years. There is nothing we can do to stop it, the die is cast. I blame the 2 independents for siding with Labor, they will pay the price, I blame the Greens for coming to an understanding with Labor. It will slow us down for years, I blame Labor for wanting this short term power at all cost. Labor will roam in the wilderness again for years, Julia might bump into Kristina while wandering and get some dress sense and ideas for a new hair do, well not a complete loss then. LOL. Goodonya Paul! cheeky beggar! Belly is a bloke, shaven headed not very happy, not gay, but a bloke!
So your mums day? well done, hope mums have had a day full of love and respect, today, yesterday and tomorrow. Yes ok we both graze on the same side of the fence, your mob on our leftovers. Bloke here is a truth, you know your politics, I have seen evidence of that. I want my party to resume its evolution. I want it to understand it has more good than bad in Federal Parliament. But that factionalism controls far too much, including who gets to rule, Gillard proves its failure, and who gets what ministry. DLP/GREENS two party's, one left one right. Both can never claim enough votes to impact on our country without feeding on Labor. Both DLP of the past Greens today, can only damage Labor and all left of center voters wishes. In fact I too, want your party, radical and divisive, to link to any one but the ALP. if LIBERALS and LABOR care for democracy. They by every means, will ask their voters to put the other second. And work together to remove all upper houses. NSW with a mandate strong as it is, half the fault of a weak leader half of radical Christian and shooters party fools, is stopping government governing. Now it is my view, truly, you are not Representative of the greens. You seem to seek an old time Labor in them. And at your age would look silly in tights and dancing pumps under a full moon going round and round a mulberry bush chanting. Happy mums day Paul! only kidding bloke. Belly, Belly, Belly
Will I attack, or try some reasoned argument, reasoned argument, the attack can come later. I am mortified by some of your comments. Firstly this, you said: "In fact I too, want your party, radical and divisive, to link to any one but the ALP. if LIBERALS and LABOR care for democracy. They by every means, will ask their voters to put the other second." You are calling for a conservative coalition of Labor, Liberal to defeat the 'watermelons' you know green on the outside red in the middle. Nothing short of a one party state. An Abbott/Gillard government, our very own 'polycephaly' in parliament, a government of national unity to defeat the red devils or should I say green devils. And then this: "And work together to remove all upper houses." and make sure the 'polycephaly' is never challenged by any opposition we don't want any of that "radical and divisive" stuff do we. Belly, and this "Greens today, can only damage Labor and all left of center voters wishes." and this "Yes ok we both graze on the same side of the fence, your mob on our leftovers." No, unfortunate from your above material the getting into bed with the arch conservatives. Our side of the fence is green and plenty to graze on. Your mob will have to wait for a few more crumbs to fall off the conservative table before you do any grazing. Come next election your mob will be fighting over the scraps and bones like you are doing in NSW and Queensland. Belly jump that conservative fence and graze on some GREEN. Never know you may enjoy it. Welcome comrade. p/s I think a 'polycephaly' is a two headed monster or maybe it just means Abbott and Gillard joined at the hip. By the way looking forward to taking on Keneally in Kingsford Smith, if she sticks her head up next time, she will need more than a new hair do after the Liberals and Greens take her to pieces. Seems the 'Rcck Star' is a goner. Posted by Paul1405, Sunday, 13 May 2012 10:18:23 PM

Paul 1405 my views, except for the dig at you for the mum bit are really mine.
No I do not want any link to Liberals or their servants the National party. But answer me truthfully, do you think the Tea Party is an unwelcome traveler on the back of Republican America. Would America be better without them? Greece,a country very likely to shake all of our world, in less than 8 weeks. Is it better for its many talking heads party's? Labor, look to Faulkner,Tanner and others, has great men and women, from the left. We are a big church. Greens as much as Tiny target Tony, currently cripple this country,12% rule over off shore processing! Cost us billions, yes I stand waiting for the removal of any power from your party. NO GREEN will confront, even even under GILLARD! your party is distrusted, no let truth speak disliked, more than any party. Paul reality bloke, I support achievable needed change,so MUST CONFRONT the greens as a tool of Tiny Target Tony and nothing else If my description of them offends you so be it. My hopes lay with reformation in the ALP not Liberal governments forever. Posted by Belly, Monday, 14 May 2012 5:44:35 AM

I regard the man this link highlights as a truly great man.
http://www.theguardian.com.au/news/national/national/general/howes-warns-union-movement-could-be-wiped-out/2555244.aspx And to Lexi in particular, but my left of center detractors too, recommend it. I value Paul Howe's, Bill Shorten, and Bill Ludwig. The, first the two Bills, saved my life's love the AWU. It had slumbered and lost contact with me,and members for a decade. A harsh amalgamation nearly killed it. Without all three of these men,in turn, it would be dead. It emerged , only because of them ,proud of it past, every union it consists of today. As the great AWU it always has been. OH yes , it, or its heads, including all three, played a roll in Rudd's rise and fall. I predicted months before he took leadership it would take place, faced threats for it. I told of 2007 long before, and faced being laughed at. And I am considered by some a rat in the ranks, even by some in my loved ALP. Yet the link and its implications are seen if you look, to support my move. I have difficulty's ,always, with the view my voice yours, any ones, should be muffled if the words differ from the leaders,or the party's. Such thoughts sit better in North Korea, not here. I am no genius, no fool, it is love and understanding that lets me feel no guilt in saying, every union must lift its game. It will take another post to express my view, and to explain why Howe's,like Shorten , will impact greatly on my country's future. continued. Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 5:55:39 AM

I first started playing a roll in my union, not just being a member, as a not yet 16 year old kid, age up to 19.
Constructing the Jolls bridges on the Sydney to Newcastle toll way as it was. Union strength came via compulsory membership. It led to slack and lazy union officials,as well as dedicated ones. Fact is HSU is unprecedented, but not ,in a much smaller way the first time union funds have been miss used. It is blind stupidity!it betrays the movement! to pretend this is not true. SOLIDARITY! a word used as a blanket, a reason to appoint the wrong people, based on mates or service, and keep them there, a word, an expression unions can no longer inflict on company's. Who RIGHTLY SO, insist on keeping the best workers, yet insults its own by inflicting on them. I could write ten posts, ten times that, but here is the bottom line. Belly, some say, is high maintenance, YES I AM! See I GRIEVED if I could do nothing for a member in trouble. I refuse! to stand idle while my party/union forgets why we exist. Forgets the last term of John Howard, the fight to get that great win on Kevin 07 night! I can not be silenced by fools, who forget my vote is assured but so is our defeat. SOLIDARITY describes my party's intent to ignore its impending death rather than address it. Without re commitment another union scandal will come. If we do not act,now we pee on the graves of our founders. And if the only reason Gillard continues to lead is others egos we are killing the ALP for a decade. Polling this morning shows we are road kill, also that Australia is afraid of both leaders. Water hens often wander on the road, standing looking at their dead mate, like the Union/ALP not understanding the car is getting near that will crush them too. Bill Kelty last night spoke at ACTU conference, many have.
But he spoke very well, along the lines I do. Labor must not blame Abbott, not Medea, not even our lead weight Gillard. We must confront a truth, many did not want Rudd, within the Parliament. Before he got the leadership, during the time he lead. His removal, even today,is the reason we are bogged and will remain so,unless Gillard gos. NOTHING Labor can do, will bring middle Australia back, while Gillard still is seen to carry the knife. Not the fine words to this conference by many, not the battle crys. We won in 2007 by bringing the very same folk to us, that we drove away by dumping Rudd. They never ever will come back to Gillard. Posted by Belly, Thursday, 17 May 2012 3:17:54 PM

My words and love of the not radical section of the union movement. The same, said on behalf of my ALP. Have earned me enemy's here, within my party, and movement. Yet I continue to hold my views tightly. Once my dogged determination to fight the good fight won me Friends. Now,just as determined to see both face the truth, and face the future and present not the past. A past we can be proud of mostly, but should to be proud to better today. Renewal is not a threat yesterdays men are just that, yesterdays ways should be just that. WA, NSW, QLD,next Federal Government? And some DARE to say she will be right mate? We, both movements, stand this morning guilty,it is us who cover a scandal more than the equal of ANY we are charged with. It is our *determination* to highlight Abbott, not our selves. That lets press, all media, hide the CONSTRUCTED scandal, Liberal built and planned, Ashby Circus. Worse than children over board, AWB this constructed LIE is emerging as evidence Labor must stop fueling its own bad publicity. Admit Gillard was the wrong person elected after wrong actions. Above all install Shorten and in his words lead! Posted by Belly, Friday, 18 May 2012 4:50:07 AM

Paul the Silver Bogey would go to the opening of a match box to be seen.
He is still a hero but his time has gone. I have a song for Gillard and her Cabernet, it comes from my past. As both union delegate, then official, as a certain manager started his talk. The back row of workers made it hard not to grin as they any? *Every thing is Beautiful, in its own way* Just picture Swan and Gillard Posted by Belly, Friday, 18 May 2012 4:15:06 PM

I am not here to defend this union.
Not to change my opinion on anything I have said. But based on my time as union official to ask questions and inform. First credit card, yes every one knows the bosses credit card number. In fact he/she the boss can book everyones rooms on every day stays away or national conferences. So too can office managers or those he/she asks to. I have used it on the phone for replacement tyers hundreds of klm away from home. Drivers license are photo copy ed and held in offices. Unions do have factions and in fighting. Brutal and harsh it is a fact. I find it hard to trust both sides of this internal war. Think it probable both are guilty. But take a breath, do please, if Parliament did as Abbott's hit man Pyne asks, judge now, before the court does, are we MAD? Can we take on that roll? is it not a plank of our law Innocent until proving guilty? Or is that only for non labor politicians? Is it true a team was spieing under that window? while his wife was in the shower? Is film in existance that will convict or not the bloke? Any truth three of the charges are prove wrong. in the end is Abbott's wish to become PM more important than letting the law take its course? Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 6:16:23 AM

Belly, I to watched the Thomson speech and it was a load of rubbish. The bloke failed to deny any involvement with prostitutes and the miss use of a union credit card. Thomson failed to answer how his phone was used to call prostitutes. The 'conspiracy theory' is beyond the truth, Thomson never ever mentioned Bolano to FWA, the first mention of any involvement in the business by Bolano was yesterday in Parliament. The union policy on spousal travel was 2 trips a year she had 14 in a about 4 years, one trip to Perth by Mrs Thomson without him was paid for by the HSU and had no connection with the union. As Jackson pointed out Thomson used the 'cowards castle' to blame this one and that one, yet wont get out in public and repeat these accusations.
As I said before my partner WAS a member of the HSU East, now resigned, and under Thomson and Williams the union become their personal cash cow. There is no requirement for parliament to establish Thomson's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The bloke should resign or Labor should reject his vote. As for Windsor, the mans a hypocrite, when he sat in the NSW Parliament he demand and got the resignation of Premier Greiner who was later exonerated by a court, Windsor is full of sanctimonious clap trap as are some members of the Labor Party, they will hang anyone when it suits them, but that is politics. Paul yes me too, but unlike you I can wait for the court outcome.
You have told me often I am near fascist and right extra but now you play the roll of vigilant/Abbott's mate. Do we ignore the law and hang the beggar? Or wait and let the courts do it, what if they find him Innocent? will you share with conservatives the guilt? I think he will be found not guilty of some, guilty of others, Jackson seems guilty, her partner. The other bloke? life will not be enough. Paul you disappoint me,lefty and proud you carry the lynch mobs rope and gloat at the thought of using it. Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 3:22:50 PM

Belly in my 40 year working life I've met some good liars, Thomson is not one of them. Unfortunately there are worse villeins than Abbott attacking the worker. At least with the likes of the Abbotts of this world they don't make much of a secret as to where their allegiance lay.
However there are maggots who will use the the worker to feed off for their own selfish gains. These slags are not worth p%$ing on. My partner has worked for years for 20 odd bucks an hour in a large public hospital as a PSA, and paid her union dues $23/fortnight supported the HSU when others would not, she knows plenty about Thompson and Williamson their game was an open secret, I have no sympathy for the likes of these two, my partner has now lost her union coverage and out of her paltry wage paid for a couple of grubs to live the high life. Paul 1405 just a thought.
I started this thread. A real life Belly [high maintenance] one. Because? I demand EVERY UNION be accountable, for every cent of members money. Made no secrete, here and in other threads, I think the bloke and his accuser, along with the union head, are grubs. In this thread I called for disbanding of the union! And complained BITTERLY,of union power brokers controlling my party. I would, with out payment, return to work today defending workers rights. BUT NEVER turn a blind eye to such as this. Now, are you hoping for more growth for your greens, they need Labor in trouble to prosper. Or do you truly agree with Abbott's backers, including HOWARD, that any means justifies the end results. Even abandoning our laws Innocent until proven guilty? Paul what ever Labor fate is this country needs the decline of greens to move forward. Posted by Belly, Wednesday, 23 May 2012 4:38:07 AM

Belly I fully agree with you that Thomson is entitled to his day in court. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty has nothing to do with the right or obligation to sit in parliament. With the 'cloud' that is hanging over Thomson, the honorable thing to do, would be to abstain oneself from the house until this is completely cleared up, one way or another. there are many precedents for this both federally and state. Take the Greiner case in the NSW parliament when Greiner was forced to resign as premier before he had his day in court, and I agree Greiner was right in resigning at the time, even though he was later cleared in court. Greiner's resignation was brought on by Labor and independents. and who was one of those independents Tony Windsor. Windsor is now shown to apply double standards, what a hypocrite. Windsor for one is trying to save his political scalp.
I had no liking for Greiner or his party, still don't, no more than I have a liking for Thomson. Please answer this one. If an employee is accused of stealing from his employer which the employee denies. If Fair Work Australia makes an adverse finding against the employee, should he keep his job until he has had his day in court, or should he be dismissed on the finding of FWA alone? It is very common practice for people to be sacked for stealing without ever being charged by police. Posted by Paul1405, Wednesday, 23 May 2012 8:00:15 AM

Greiner was found to have done nothing wrong in the inquiry that took place.
After he was forced to leave. OUG you present a view few could agree with. FWA by just the time it took to hand down this report. By some of its findings being found to be wrong, should one day soon stand in the dock with this bloke. No finding of guilt has been proved until that day. Unions and the ALP can kid them selves but this is a Crisis.
HSU? only fair and honest thing is to disband the union.
Re higher its best, re name it,even look at cutting fees, always, every union look at cutting fees.
Academics,suits,university graduates.
Serving not as union managers, but even officials.
How would you feel, a life time unionist, battling to pay the kids school fees.
And seeing Craig Thomson suited up,charged with living the life of a movie star, on your fees.
I feel sick, betrayed and sick.
While I sat opposite Williams or what ever in Labor conferences few there, came from my back ground.
Blue collar workers ask every day, what is going on?
The signs are clear, make no mistake, those in power are masking this issue, pretending it is a one off.
Time gentlemen please, for change salad sandwiches, and telephone hook ups hold in the highest regard member ship fees.
Cut fees but increase services.
Get out and visit every member twice a year, recruitment comes with service.
For further discussion?
While gems, giants like Shorten Combet Swan come from unions so too did this middle class grub.
So too do some of our most infamous .
Hands off the ALP recent actions have taken us from the joy of 2007 to near death to come, because you installed Gillard and lack the guts to say.
*We got that wrong*
