The two-party system is dying because the fact is both parties exhibit a moral vaccuum.
Abbott is doing a good job of opposing all policies on the principles of 'opposition' and it is infecting all of his party members. One only has to tune into any interview of a Liberal politician and it is all the same rhetoric. Matthias Cormann's reactions on Q&A last night is indicative of this viral trend.
There is no bipartisanship forthcoming even on the most important of issues. And the about-face on the attempted take-over of Reith and cronies for the Liberal Party leadership - now you see him, now you don't.
Is this the sort of leader you wish for? Why is Abbott a better alternative? Just not being Gillard is not enough.
We need new and better democratic parties who are not beholden to corporate interests and who represent the people who elect them in good faith. The Liberal Party are more likely to put the interests of the big end of town first, the ALP is no better.
You would think the result of the last election was enough to wake the two major parties up from their sleep - but apparently not so - just remember this at the next election.
