Keith Snow used to work for General Electric the company that built the reactors in Japan.Once upon a time he was pro-nuclear but this present technolgy gives him grave reasons for concern.

The Nuclear power industry is still in it's infancy.Nuclear fission generated by uranium is very pollutive with high radiation and very long half lives.Thorium reactors are far less pollutive and are seen as a far safer path.Nuclear fusion,ie the reduction of hydrogen to helium is seen as an even a safer alternative but we lack the technology to enable and control it.

I will never say no to safe nuclear technology but our corporate controlled Govts nearly always put profits before people in their persuit of power.Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for the neo-cons in the USA who see limited nuclear weapons (mini nukes) as a means of subduing China and Russia.

Arjay have you ever considered that your theory may be the truth in reverse?
I truly believe it is corporations and owners of polluting fuels, that blacken Nuclear.
The chances this is another Chernobyl are slim.
With over 400, soon to be 500 and growing Nuclear plants in the world we have had what?
Less than ten matters of concern?
And how many presented a risk such as this?
Conspiracy's do exist, I do not doubt it.
But you may well be a victim of them, more often than not your conspiracy's seem to be, to me, back to front.
Look at oil, arjay, ask why the west is not working as they do in war time to find real bulk replacements.
Why has the government given unrealistic solar benefits to first in, but not simply removed tax on them to not be a money maker.
But to be free of both carbon generation and pay for them selves by stopping further bills.

Belly.Read the article before commenting.Snow was involved in the nuclear industry.We know the Japanese Govt is covering up the truth.There are at least 3 reactors under threat.2 have definitely exploded with explosions heard in the third.

The USA sent out the CIA to cover it up,not specialists who could solve the problem.

No Belly.You didn't read it.The spent fuel rods were stored high in the reactors not inside the primary containment area.They can produce 24,000 times the radiation caused by the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.Tokyo is just 240 kms away with a pop of over 10 million.No wonder the people in the USA are worried.

What is the conspiracy here? Are the CIA intending to release a cloud of radioactive contamination that will destroy China? Is the Japanese Government using the threat of nuclear destruction of the West Coast of America to extort better trade terms?

And where does the elite cabal of international banksters fit in? Are they using it as a smokescreen for their activities in the Middle East, where they are fomenting revolution in order to gain a firmer grip on the world's oil - which, if all goes well, will reach $200 a barrel before the end of the year?

You are being very secretive on this one, which is in itself quite worrying. Conspiracies - like 9/11 - should be conducted out in the open, where everybody can see.

Pericles;You too have failed to read the article.You know our own Govt constantly lies to us.eg Juliar on the carbon tax.These reactors were in the wrong place with not enough safe guards instigated.They were too low for Tsunamis and on an earthquake zone.Those spent fuel rods should have been in a more secure area.

Do yourself a favour and read it.It may be a bit challenging intellectually for you, but worth the effort.
