As others have observed, many have experienced inexplicable events.
Many, many years ago as a teenager, I spent Xmas holidays with my parents in an typical large colonial house in, then, Bukit Timor Rd, Johor Bahru. I did not speak Malay at that time. A couple of events occurred, one of which was quite frightening - no apparition, but a alarming incongruence of light, darkness and objects. On asking my parents if the place was haunted, I was assured with laughter it wasn't. However, on my next holiday, in a residence elsewhere, my parents admitted that the previous house had a reputation in the district. In fact they had been informed of it before moving in by the DPEO. An Australian soldier had been tortured and killed in a subterranean bathroom. The idea of whether the supernatural exists, or doesn't, does not concern me. When told of someone's eerie experience, I accept that they believe it. Surely that is enough. Posted by Danielle, Thursday, 11 November 2010 7:10:35 PM

Philo: *Snort*
Nicnoto: I agree with most of your views. Danielle: You seem to always have interesting points. A lot more accepting then many I know. I still agree with StG. Btw, i have been seeing a pretty good psychiatrist. He was very depressing at the beginning, he's not helping me with anything, but he keeps wanting to see me more. He said I don't seem to have any mental illnesses, but he can't seem to figure me out. :) I find him quite an interesting study. He's expensive but the government's paying as I can't afford him. If you have noticed, i like to joke around alot coz it's fun, and that's what life's about.. it's about enjoying every single moment of it, and appreciating that you have your life, you have you health, you have your love ones, you have whatever you have, and not what you don't have. I have my reasons for doing what i do, I don't need to sleep to be normal as it is not proven how much of sleep the brain actually needs. What I do in my own personal time is my choice and should be respected and not judged. But this is where we are, we live in a judgmental society. We like to judge appearances, character, actions, behavior, etc. A lot of ppl try to fix in because when they don't, they get condemned by society. No worries, I'm used to it. It's my choice to be this was, my responsibility, so i suffer the consequences. I just share this with the more normal people out there.. Have a break, have a laugh.. kitkat doesn't make you laugh... but this does : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAjiiEOzOV8&feature=player_embedded Live a little will ya'll Posted by jinny, Thursday, 11 November 2010 7:13:04 PM

UOG,
I'm afraid I'm not bothering reading your ranting. You are in your own little world of fantasy. For those cultures / persons who believe in spirit beings they will have mental experiences of spirits / demons. For those free from belief in spirit beings / demons live a much more emotionally secure life, not moved by emotions. For me there are no spirit beings independent of a body. God is not a spirit being - GOD IS SPIRIT. Posted by Philo, Friday, 12 November 2010 6:15:29 AM

I apologise. I meant that the person who was supposed to die earlier (doctor's prognosis) actually died at the time the cat had foreseen.
Deep Blue,
"A story comes to mind about the pied piper, ( and the rats did die ) ..."
Rather cryptic. However, like many fairytales and old poems, this is based on fact. The "pied piper" (a charismatic figure) entered a German village and sold the idea of a better life elsewhere to many of the young people, "rats". Many joined him in this venture, however, the ship sunk and all perished. Poems like "A Pocket full of Posies" and "Hey Diddle, Diddle" refer to the Black Death, and a court scandal where a member of royalty ran off with a courtier, respectively. "Humpty Dumpty" refers to a lost battle. Possibly, all such old poems have their genesis in fact. For those interested, research of such peoms reveal a rich vein of information.
As for animals, apart from the solace they provide; indeed the sheer joy in just observing non-human creatures, they have been able to predict/aid in more earthly states. Dogs have predicted when their owners were about to have a cardiac event - in one case, so scaring a co-worker that he promply visited his doctor - the result - an immediate by-pass operation. The owner heart-patient had taken his dog to work, the dog moved to a co-worker and stared fixedly at him the entire day. In other cases, animals have predicted epilectic fits ... Autistic children have gained great benefit when exposed to dolphins. The list goes on. I think animals are closer to the idea of angels; certainly "guardian angels" don't seem to follow any brief.
The much vaunted concept of "man-killers" is based more on lurid beliefs than fact. In Malaya there is a saying that a tiger will not attack a human because lines of the Koran are written on the forehead. Rangers will tell you that "man-killers" have developed from a set of circumstances; not an inate trait in animals.
