Calm down SM and cap Hasbeen.
Julia the good spoke of facts, this fine lady said what Abbott would have had to say if it was him in office.
Given deals with others we do not have the power to put our wish list in place.
In fact we have commited to talk about changes in policy's.
But gents you knew that.
Still like a storm in your tea cup it helps you to forget you failed.
My hopes rose SM for a brief second I thought you had considered my idea and had intentions of sailing away, Hasbeens nappy trawling along behind.
Let us toast this fine lady Julia Gillard our country's leader fine lady too.

When someone has broken so many promises in a matter of weeks one would have to be gullible to believe Ms Gillards word. Obviously Jockey you don't think that private beliefs affect public performance. I think you are wrong.

Michael Gordon has written an excellent article
in, "The Age," Insight, Saturday, 18th 2010,
entitled, "Pause For Thought."

In it he says:

"Our Prime Minister has worked 90 days
straight - most of them spent
campaigning, cajoling, negotiating,
selecting and explaining without pausing
for breath."

Give her a break. Judge her at the end of
her term don't cut her down at the beginning
of it.

As the article states:

"She's an easy communicator who treats people
with respect and doesn't project any sense of
superiority, she sees herself as "the first
among equals" in her party. We know that she's
a firm believer in the power of education, in
a strong work ethic and a sense of fairness.
She plans to lay out a long-term vision that the
electorate can relate to and embrace."

"The PM has nominated a host of priorities for
the next term: keeping the economy strong,
delviering the broadband network, showing tangible
health improvements on the ground, and delivering
the sustainable population strategy and the response
to climate change."

She's made it clear that she's not going to rank them
with one at the top.

Let's not forget, as the article tells us that:

"The onus now is cearly not on delivering precisely
what was promised, but building on and adapting
policy ideas through negotiation with the Greens,
the independents and (where possible), the opposition."

The PM needs to be given time to reflect, especially
before making the really big calls.

Jumping in with threads like this one - and baying
for blood is not only unfair - it's not very
intelligent, considering the fact that time is
needed to take stock and work on the big picture.

Jockey,
Thank you runner needed that.

Shadow minister,
Though you have a good point in theory you are still using cheap news paper articles to attack the government rather than open a mature discussion.
Yes Julia did say that much of what they touted during the election is now open as the land scape has changed. Well isn't that just overstating the obvious. The government will now have to negotiate with the greens and independents on everything, this will cause a much more open government that will find it hard to hide the devil in the detail.
But then again it would be much more satisfying to go back to a world of core and non-core promises wouldn't it. Such a hassle when people just admit how it is.

Foxy, no one twisted the ladies arm & forced her to stand for PM. She did it for her own desire. She has no right to ask for a holiday after the election

If she can't handle the heat she should have kept out of the kitchen.

Any fair minded person can see that she is trying to use the situation to move her objectives much further to the left.

I suppose those of you that like that idea will be busy rationalising this switch, but others don't like it. Many who voted labor will be entitled to feel they have been conned, mainly because they have.

She would have had no chance of being elected if she had offered these policies at election time.
