At first I thought this was funny..... Then I realized the awful truth of it.

Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think..

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
It?S time to apply
The inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in "Hell" happened? Can you spell 'politicians?

Can you spell "mum"?

That's how we do it in Australia. That list of taxes isn't Australian either - we're not an American state yet.

Actually, for most middle-income Australian families, the net tax is zero or less. The net spend on rebates, subsidies, etc is about 10% more than the net personal income tax collected. That was so under Howard and under Rudd it has surely gone up a lot.

Regardless of the minor errors individual is 100% correct in his sentiments. This is why we need a new political party.

"Tax Attack"

Anthony works at the grocery store,
saving his pennies for some day'
Mumma Leone left a note at the door
She said'
"Sonny move out of the country"
Working too hard can give you a tax attack-ack-ack-ack
You oughta know by now'
.....................
....................
And it seems such a waste of time'
If that's what's it all about,
If that's movin' up
Then I'm,movin' out

So put on some B Joel and get angry.
It is now beyond a farce. The system will collapse under the weight of it's own stupidity.

Individual, good thread.

But the list of things that are taxed is actually vastly longer in Australia, if you think about the GST and every single traded item or service (with a very small number of exemptions) that incurs a tax.

The big problem is, finding a balance between a tax system that is too simplistic and hence too unfairly allocated and one that it too complex and hence hard to follow and expensive to administer.

Perhaps a great long list of taxes is not so bad when you realise that only the people undertaking those activities or buying those goods are paying tax on them, rather than with broad-sweeping taxes where everyone, for example, pays for education regardless of whether or not they are using that service or have kids using it.
