Whether you are religious or not, one thing is true....We need the planet Earth but the planet Earth doesn't need us!

In today's news http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25993370-401,00.html

The dreaded pollution is destroying our planet which at best we only have guardianship of.

This video shows more of the problem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ0jrQEdkzk&feature=related

BUT there is more

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpaSewyddd4

If this planet was given to us by GOD why are we so arrogant, greedy and selfish not to realise what we have done and are doing?

If there is such a thing as Mother Earth... she is groaning under the pain of what mankind has done.

Can our ecosystems survive such an onslaught?

This is the way I see it. It's like the flora and fauna versus us. They're in a battle to survive the onslaught of us doing what we do. You're actually as much of a problem to the animals and plants and anyone else. It actually doesn't matter what you do to minimise the impact on the planet you still have one. Times your impact by six billion and there's a picture of inevitability.

The third party in it all is the planet. Everything else is along for the ride. The planet will eventually burn up and rid itself of us. We are merely hastening the process.

It's an ugly fight and eventually the planet will be the only one left standing. It's just a matter of time and it's totally up to us as to whether it's faster, or slower.

i can flip flop either way on this topic..but are chosing to remain..what i see as neutral...we have seen the most horific destruction's in our past...and the one constant is the niches remaining...that support life..contuinue's

i have seen the ruins...of the past..of people no doudt mired in their own much...then along comes a volcano..[or tidalwave]..and cleans the mess up...and the life left goes on

we were given the duty of wardship over gods estates...the main problem being..our leaders presume their feebles selfs to be in control..[witness the insane concept of carbon tax curing the suns energy]...the tax diectly is to pay for yet more destruction[pay/subsidize the next stage of industrialisation...

or finalise the take over of the monetory as well as tax/systems stealing and despoiling the fruits of our labours..[the hard earned assets our money/labour built...

but now owned by ever fewer and bigger banks...owned by ever fewer individual banking cartels...building other cartels..to the point where a small cartle..[5 percent...own 90 percent of gods gifts]...

controling even gods house../media/banking/finance /realestate/big oil/big pharma/health/services/education/transport/bisness/shares/resouyrces/land/factories/war/peace/govt/law...blogs and bloggers

we are a part of gods creation...the earth owns us...we cant own it..and if you do own it..you cant take it anywhere...you can't take it closer to the sun...nor further away..

how futile you..[generic ewe/U-]..black suited waifs of saturn...really are...cant you hear god laughing...you sell you soul...FOR WHAT?

In my usual mode I can think of a dozen reasons why we do and I'm sure some on OLO will give the justifications/excuses.
Those excuses will range from "everybody else is to blame", "I doing my bit", the rhetorically intended "What can I as an individual do" through denial (that there's even a problem) to "I have a RIGHT to improve my situation".All of which should have (sic) attached.

All of which smacks of 'out of sight out of mind' to down right Myopic selfishness.

But hey, to some on this site Simple observation is equated with judgmental pontification as a means of absolving them from their obvious lack of personal effort. In reality the judgement etc is in their minds...'if the cap fits' reaction.

In truth we all including me could do more. Exchanging the 'could' for 'should' in the previous sentence is ultimately a matter of personal assessment. However, given that it affects all of us then I wonder at the overall validity of the excuses in context of society (anthropological meaning)which underpins our mutual existence.

Opimionated,
Over population is the basic cause of most problems of pollution.

That is the problem that needs tackling first.
