Well it's nice to see that although the world is changing some things are seemingly fixed, my clumsy prose and Col's negativity.

In this case terms like 'pseudo intellectual ', his recalcitrance regarding Global warming (Anthropomorphic Global warming in particular.) and any topic that might upset his beastly (as in wild animal) world view. This is evident by his derision for topics like sociology that offers inconvenient evidence.

One might suggest that the world has moved on since the power obsessed inane utterances of 'The' Baroness.

It goes to show our differences He's not happy unless he's tearing something or someone down, usually through ego and ignorance, which tends to render his opinion some what irrelevant.

Conversely I'm happiest when trying to help (often misguidedly, according to some) or advocating FOR objectivity and context.

But, on a positive note we do agree on one thing... that I'm not among the most learned on OLO, although knowing Col's propensity for the venal, that would probably for different reasons.

Clearly so long as we have those who judge people by how much money, which ideology they follow or how much we can identify with them and be prepared to fight over, it we will tend the seeds for our own destruction.

TY for all your replies guys...sorry I haven't been able to post a reply.

To those who argue overpopulation is the problem...I somewhat agree...but how do we address it? It seems that those of us who have bred, are saying to those who haven't yet, you can't have children. I don't know how we achieve that.

To argue that overpopulation created the petro-chemical industry and therefore the plastics pollution is somewhat flawed however. Overpopulation is exacerbating the problem but man's invention of plastics was the cause.

Overpopulation may have exaggerated the pollution problems, but, until we tackle the pollution itself, which obviously has the potential of destroying us and many other species...then is it all downhill from here? How do we remove the plastic particles in our Oceans?

If what the You Tube video shows is true, our so called progress, and it's pollution of the worlds waterways, (out of sight and out of mind), the cause, have we passed the tipping point already?

I had no hidden agenda here except to allow people to see the information.

I doubt Mother Earth and/or GOD would have wanted humans to release the carbon especially when it has the prospect of destroying most or all life that the Earth sustains. I don't believe there is a "Please Self-destruct" clause.

If people are assessing a species as inferior because our species mistakenly wiped it out...it suggests the very arrogance that I was talking about.

Under that scenario insects, bacterium and viruses are far superior to us.

As weird as this may sound...my advice in these times is "Aim to be Selfless". It may not mean much today but in the not too distant future it may mean more than you will ever know.

Opinionated writes 'Whether you are religious or not, one thing is true....We need the planet Earth but the planet Earth doesn't need us!'

You can be sure one thing and that is that unless the heart of man changes nothing will improve. The lies and propaganda by Green groups re climate change and pollution leaves one very skeptical. The first 2 links on these posts are a good example of that. The over population mantra is popular but try suggesting we reduce the number of animals on earth and see the illogical responses. After returning from a trip recently I could not help bit to observe how beautiful our planet is. I doubt whether it has ever been much better. NO doubt big business has done its share of damage but it seems among the most indulgent are the earth worshipers who want to deny others the lifestyle they enjoy themselves (often in tax payer) jobs. Look at the damage and loss of life caused recently in Victoria where the ferals ensured no one was allowed the clear land around the properties they worked for. The end result of their stupidity and dogmas was far more damage.

I vaguely remember a great line by Sidney Poitier, from a movie made in the sixties: "I see Humanity, getting ready to leave the Earth like maggots jumping from a rotting apple.."
For farming dynasties, the plan was always to leave the land better for the next generation.
Whatever happened to long term planning?

Examinator “One might suggest that the world has moved on since the power obsessed inane utterances of 'The' Baroness.”

The “Baroness”, inherited an economic shambles, the product of socialist incompetence and turned it around

as well as expelling the invasion by the forces of a South American dictator.

She also worked to reduce the interference of government into the private lives of the electorate, released public housing for purchase to many Britains and introduced comprehensive education system into a previously streamed schools system.

None of the above suggest a “power-obsessed” person.

Conversely the Australian socialist swill government are busy engineering higher alcohol, cigarette and food prices, not to improve tax revenues but to control the eating, drinking and smoking habits of the electorate…

Now, that is what I call “power-obsessed”

But the resident proctologist here feels the opposite.

Nothing new in that.. he is pointing in the wrong direction… maybe he needs a guide dog… or guiding monkey?

“Clearly so long as we have those who judge people by how much money, which ideology they follow or how much we can identify with them and be prepared to fight over, it we will tend the seeds for our own destruction”

“How much Money”… I suggest you show where in any of my posts I have presumed money “matters” in my assessment of any one….

“Ideology “ – yes of course.. I will always value the thoughts of the libertarian minded over those of the swill humping socialists and levelers, especially when we consider Lenins aside, that

“the goal of Socialism is Communism”

Grim “Whatever happened to long term planning?”

Well it got left with short-term minded politicians.

When government gets involved in “planning” one of two things happen

Short term thinking.. to the next election

Long term in the context of a Stalin multiple 5 year plans.

On balance, the former is preferable to the latter.

If you want real long term planning

Leave it with the private individuals who have a material interest in its success, rather than think “government” and its paid bureaucrats are a solution for anything.

Runner & others,

I would be more frightened of the propaganda of the brown groups - pollution causing industry etc.

They have the money to pressure Governments.
They have the money to employ deceivers.
They have the reason to destroy - GREED! Your Bible will tell you what GOD thinks about such matters!

This appeared on News.com the other day

Does this video show a problem? (Warning it is graphic and very disturbing)

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,,26020229-2,00.html

What is hy-line USA's vision, mission & values regarding animals?

http://www.hy-line.com/aspx/VisionMissionValues/visionmissionvalues.aspx?navid=122

Is Hy-Line Australia a part of this same organisation? Do they have a link to the USA operation on their website?

http://www.hyline.com.au/

What is the process that Hy-Line Australia uses if it is a part of their operation to kill the male chicks?

What Govt. Department is assessing Australian companies properly in the animal protection arena?

Yep the world is in wonderful hands when left with corporations and with toothless Government monitors!

Perhaps self-regulation would help...oh and if you believe that you will find pixies at the bottom of your gardens...Happy Pixie searching...lol

I am disgusted!
