Another distortion from the forums number one distorter! You deserve the Pauline Hanson Liar, Liar Pants On Fire Award.
"But just on deaths in custody, do you realise that the Deaths in Custody inquiry found that, proportionately FEWER aboriginals die in custody than whites?"
How the addition of one word, in this case "PROPORTIONATELY" puts a whole new twist on things, and why the "?", is that because its a lie.
The truth; "The commission explicitly noted that while the sheer number of non-Aboriginal deaths was higher, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were dying at a disproportionately higher rate relative to their tiny fraction of the total Australian population . The report detailed that this tragedy occurred not because Indigenous people were inherently more likely to die once in custody, but because they were arrested and incarcerated at drastically higher rates than non-Indigenous people due to systemic issues"
Note the use of the word; "DISPROPORTIONATELY".
BTW, I said; "Deaths in custody, more than 600 Aboriginal people have died in police custody, thanks to "sensitive policing" since the 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody." The operative word there is "SINCE" What did the RC have a crystal ball, and foretold the future did they?
