"Yes, clashes have broken out. But this is not the gotcha you think it is - internal violence after external siege is tragically common. It doesn't erase Israel’s role in creating the conditions for chaos." Spot on John, the Trumpster is totally clueless.

In war zones where the social fabric of a society is broken down, and a controlling authority leaves, creating a vacuum as far as law and order is concerned. This has happened many times in the past. At The end of WWII, in German cities as advancing Russians forced the German army to retreat, cities became nightmares for the occupants as law and order broke down.

There were no Palestinian 'hostages'. They were convicted criminals and terrorists. Even The Guardian could only call them "detainees", trying to make Israel look bad.

Israel had no reason to take hostages. Hostages are only taken to get another party to do something they don't want to do. In the case of Hamas/Gaza terrorists taking Israelis hostage, it was a failure. Israel did not do what the terrorists wanted.

- Hamas are just trying to restore order, and some of the other 13 groups might even be compromised and working for the Israelis.

"Ah, there it is. The tired slur that any concern for Palestinian suffering is secretly antisemitic. No, it’s about accountability."
- It's almost as if that because they don't care about those people, that they can't comprehend anyone else actually caring about them either.

Between the Israel lobby groups, NGO's, political donations, the governments legislation, media owned and social media they're buying and exert influence over, there have significant influence to sell their narrative and agenda.

Some like mhaze buy into it, and he wouldn't be the only one, many people do.
I have family members I speak to often who were raised more Christian than I was, and they seem to have these Pro-Israel entrenched beliefs.
Like they're just not capable of seeing things realistically, and buy into all the pro-Israel narratives like scripture from the bible.

Well in that case, the Israelis taken on October 7 were just 'detainees' too.

Israel/OPT: Horrifying cases of torture and degrading treatment of Palestinian detainees amid spike in arbitrary arrests

"Israeli authorities have dramatically increased their use of administrative detention, a form of arbitrary detention, of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank; extended emergency measures that facilitate inhuman and degrading treatment of prisoners; and failed to investigate incidents of torture and death in custody over the past four weeks, Amnesty International said today."

"Over the last month we have witnessed a significant spike in Israel’s use of administrative detention – detention without charge or trial that can be renewed indefinitely – which was already at a 20-year high before the latest escalation in hostilities on 7 October.

"The beating to the rest of my body did not stop, at one point he started jumping on my back – three or four times – while yelling ‘die, die you trash’ … in the end before this finally stopped, another officer urinated on my face and body while also yelling at us ‘to die’.

Exactly, get off their 'God-given' land.
So Israeli's come to where you live, burn and destroy your olive grove, bulldoze your house, then when you spakk it, they take you to jail, rape and torture you, piss on you and make you sing Israeli songs and hold you indefinely without charge, and if your lucky and they do let you do you're still homeless and they fine you for the settlers legal costs.

So tell me ttbn,

What are you if you are taken from where you live by foreigners who put you in prison and hold without charge and torture you by the same people who are stealing your land?

You're a hostage, something to be made an example of, of what happens if you dare to resist.
That's what.
