I sympathise, of course, but the voters rewarded the party responsible with 94 seats. And the only voters who can cause a referendum are those in a countries like Switzerland where they have true democracy via citizen initiated referendum. The authoritarians here will never allow that.

Dear Indyvidual,

«Actually, what profanity in my last post are you on about ?»

That reference to filthy "[anti-]social media".
I obviously wouldn't open that link, and even if I mistakenly clicked on it then I have set my browser to block it.

If there is anything you like to tell me on this topic, then please do, or at least direct me using a DECENT link.

If Australia was a real democracy citizens would have the initiative to demand the referendum that Indyvidual rightly suggests. But even Constitutional lawyer, Professor David Flint seems to have given up on it. Australia is not a real democracy: it is a virtual one-party-state, with a so-called Opposition who has not done much opposing since Labor was elected. Australia also requires people who have no interest in politics - and who, therefore, completely ignorant, to vote or be fined. That's pure authoritarian bullying, as is the preferential system that forces voters to put a number against candidates they despise.
