Yes. Australia is out of touch: not so much with the rest of the world, but with our own, English-speaking allies.
A recent article in the SMH revealed that the US is concerned about the Albanese government's failure to speak up about China publicly, as previous Australian governments did. The leftist government being much less willing to discuss the threat of China than previous Australian governments could risk AUKUS.
The usual denials of softness towards China by foreign minister Wong are unlikely to reassure the US that an Albanese government would use the AUKUS submarines in a possible conflict with China.
It is noted by the US that Western left parties used to feel the same way as conservative ones about Communism, but that might no longer apply? Particularly in leftist Australia.
