"I'd argue my number one concern is exacerbating the housing problem" I agree that housing has become a problem. But its a problem of supply, and the bottleneck that has been created through governments past failures to anticipate such that was developing more than 10 years ago. The Coalition took a philosophical view that the "free market" would overcome, and the demand would be met, that didn't happen. Labor is making some attempt to tackle the problems, state governments are starting to life their game, particularly on unnecessary red tape, which is restricting development. Its to simplistic to simply blame immigration as the root cause of the housing shortage, in fact skilled migrants are one asset needed to offset a lack of domestic trades people in building.
