Well actually it does. The US doesn't need Venezuelan oil and particularly didn't need it in the Trump years when the US was a nett exporter of oil. But a destabilised Venezuela is a threat to the region and that's the US interest in the issue.

Maduro's regime is now utterly reliant on military forces from Cuba and China to suppress the Venezuelan people. Why am I not surprised you're okey-dokey with that.
