"We have been reviewing the economics behind continuing
United States support to Ukraine, and even setting aside the terrible human suffering amidst thousands of civilian deaths, the fact that helping Ukraine defend itself in saving millions of lives and forestalling World War III given Putin's imperial ambitions: as well as the diplomatic and national security value of such aid, in actuality, the US is the single biggest winner from supporting Ukraine." Here are the reasons why: http://insights.som.yale.edu/insights/what-the-us-has-to-gain-from-supporting-ukraine#: Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 21 July 2024 11:44:28 AM

OMG I cant believe you posted that Foxy.
Let me explain something to you, just because someone went to Uni, doesn't mean they're not an idiot. Firstly the articles dated. "90% of Ukraine aid spending stays in the U.S., creating thousands of jobs" - Sales pitch number 1: 'Dead Ukrainians are great for our economy' True, and might be acceptable if an American thinks 'Well I benefit so it's ok' - But for anyone else - dubious moral grounds "The Ukraine conflict has revitalized NATO, lessening the relative economic burden on the U.S." - Well that's not true. It's making US arms manufacturers richer but not made Europe safer. Finlands in NATO now, they have to pay 2% GDP, they also have to build 11 NATO military bases at their own expense, and in response Russia has placed a new army on it's border, which forces them to place an army of their own to counter it. Huge expense, would've been better to stay neutral, now they have nukes aimed at them. Look at Orban try to make peace in Ukraine and European US lapdogs going insane, NATOs fracturing. And Turkey's going to join BRICS after decades of waiting for the EU, which means Turkey will no longer be a part of NATO, so they'lllose their southern flank. 'Russian military might has been severely degraded without a single active duty American military casualty' - No it hasn't. Just like in the US for WWII, war has revitalised the Russian economy. Ukrainians military is shrinking, they're dying faster than they can be replaced, where the Russian military is growing, they're taking new recruits at a greater level than their losses, and the article I already showed you shows how Russian military industrial output is unmatched by the combined west. The vacuum left by the exodus of western companies allowed Russia to fill those gaps itself and be all Russian. The US sanctions and asset confiscations against Russian oligarchs has forced them to invest their money at home. The war has unified the country, and pushed Russia and China closer together. http://youtu.be/wwalhvoBIGI Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 21 July 2024 4:26:16 PM

Russia doesn't have to target NATO bases to mess with America. US coalition forces couldn't even manage the Houthis as it was. Russia will arm all the US adversaries and use them as proxies against the US just as the US uses Ukraine as a proxy against Russia. We've already seen a complete change in the geopolitical situation in the Middle east with China helping Iran and the Saudia make peace, the Saudis saying no formal agreement with Israel without a Palestinian State, and Russia now has a strategic military defense treaty with North Korea. Mean while US can't make weapons fast enough, while China stockpiles. These people are fools. Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 21 July 2024 4:37:01 PM

What a morning this has been.
News headlines: Biden Steps Aside. Hand-picked Kamala Harris his Vice President as his successor. Today's historic news will shape our world for years to come. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made a very moving speech acknowledging the US President's legacy. A man who put his country and not himself first. A man who adhered to established rules, international laws, and honoured signed agreements. A man who respected the Constitution, who believed in institutions like NATO and agreements on free trade and in supporting allies. Who was a stable pair of hands. A man who believed in supporting Ukraine. A man who believed in unification not division. Who did not have a fear of partnership and collective action. Who encouraged the most courageous thinking. The belief that supporting Ukraine was not just an act of courage but one of moral obligation against the tyrannical force of Russia's grab to restore Putin's Imperial fantasies. It is now up to the Democrats as to who they will choose as their nominee. Vice President Kamala Harris was a professional prosecutor who was capable of dealing with and pursuing sexual deviates. Trump more than qualifies. I hope that Trump won't refuse a debate with her - should she turn out to be the approved - chosen Democratic nominee. It would prove to be an interesting evening. - It's good to be right, and everyone else was smoking the Ukrainian horse crap.
Years of miscalculations by U.S., NATO led to dire shell shortage in Ukraine
http://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/ukraine-crisis-artillery/
"A decade of strategic, funding and production mistakes played a far greater role in the shell shortage than did the recent U.S. congressional delays of aid, Reuters found."
Preliminary Lessons from Ukraine’s Offensive Operations, 2022–23
http://www.rusi.org/explore-our-research/publications/special-resources/preliminary-lessons-ukraines-offensive-operations-2022-23
"The most serious error made in planning by Ukraine appears to have been the basis on which it was determined that the main effort could succeed under these circumstances. Rather than using tempo and concentration to defeat six Russian regiments, it was hoped that shock action would cause Russian troops to break, as had occurred around Kharkiv in 2022. Insufficient planning was done to assess how the critical conditions for such a collapse in morale could be achieved, so that this proved an overly optimistic planning assumption. In the event, the initial attacks failed, and tempo was lost, such that Russia could fight the battle with the full 105,000 troops it had in the target sector."
'it was hoped that shock action would cause the Russian troops to break'
- So basically there whole entire counteroffensive was based on the premise that opposing forces would run away.
JUST AS I STATED AT THE TIME.
And you people are willing to send your kids and grandkids to fight under the aptitude of U.S war planners?
I told you, their foreign policy is suicide.
