Chalmers has advised that the government isn't considering changes to negative gearing since they'd promised to not make any changes in the last two elections.
And of course we all know that when the ALP makes that type of promise, it isn't worth the paper its written on. Their word is their bond....worthless. Posted by mhaze, Monday, 29 January 2024 11:47:30 AM

They broke a promise on the stage 3 stage tax cuts; now they expect us to believe that they won't touch negative geared because they also promised not to do that. It would be impossible to find a bigger much of morons than Albanese and his gang.

As I said eighteen months ago when I predicted all these problems for whichever party won the 2022 election (http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=9813#333463, the economic problems currently hitting the credibility of Albanese and Chalmers weren't caused by them - although they've hardly helped.
But the new tax policy is indicative of two things... 1. They always opposed the stage 3 cuts even while promising to maintain them. But as soon as a chance came to reverse that promise they grabbed it meaning that ideology trumps policy for these people. 2. They are panicking. The economy is not good and there's no good reason to think things will improve in 2024. All the things they could do to help are impossible for them to ideologically countenance and will be ignored. So as with these tax cuts, their solution is and will be to throw money are the electorate and hope like hell that they get applauded for it. The longer term effect on the economy will be dire but re-election in 2025 is their only concern. I never expected better from Albanese, but Chalmers is a massive disappointment. No "applauding" at the tennis. Liaranese got a good old booing. Some spotty cub reporter described it as a tradition. It is not.

Looking at him, the way he dresses, and those glasses, reminded of the Communist posing as a Laborite, Doc Evatt. He is nothing like his idol, Whitlam; he is Evatt the Second, a real died in the wool, extremely dangerous, ultra-Leftist.
